I feel so trapped, does anyone else have a controlling, clutter-holding mother?

My mom is a packrat adn won't let me get rid of anything, I feel so trapped because there is just so much stuff there is not enough room for me. My mom says If i leave she will stop paying for my car and college. I can't live like this, but I need a college education. I feel so trapped. All this clutter is making me so depressed I can't move around the house let alone have anyone over! What can I do? I jsut made the stupidest decision of my life by deciding to comute this semester! Im just trapped, there is no place for me.

Write a letter to Dr, Phil, maybe he can get her on his show and you can get something done about her obsession.
For now, you have to concentrate on your school and do whatever is necessary.
If the clutter is not in your room, get a lock for the door and keep it loced. If it has spilled into your room, remove it piece by piece and put it ontop f something else.
You can't help her, she has a disease.....
she needs a professional.
get school done and then you can move out.....

The bad part is, it is your mothers home, she can live in it her way. If it bothers you that much, leave. You say you will loose the car, so lots of kids don't have cars. You just might have to work your butt of to stay in school, lots of kids do. You shouldn't let mother or anyone else hold something over your head. Chances are, she won't change, she's been this way for how long? Sounds to me like you want to run her home, and have the fringe benefits.

I would tell MOM she needs to unpack some of the trash or you are leaving!tell her how you feel tell her that you are not happy living like that and if she still refuses to unpack the trash well then you may just have to go ....chance are though if you sit her down and be respect full to her she will listen to you she no doubts love you or she wouldn't want you around
