It almost appears that the paint I used was two differnt shades? 3 each 5 gallon pails...... house had not been painted for like 20 years and didn't use primer. Actually painted some areas 2X and some spots are darker than others? Used good airless sprayer too...... just plain WEIRD~~~~??? any suggestions or help??
Thanks,

should have used primer allways!plus 5gallon buckets of paint might have not been shook up enough, even when you get them shook up, you must stir before using.Next time try putting siding on its the way to go, time you paint 3 or 4 times it would have paid for siding and the time you save is worth the investmant alone, besides painting keeps your investment from decreaseing, siding will increase the value and you wont have to paint anymore.

Did you have it all mixed while you waited? They might have slipped up on one extra drop of one color. Also they have to be well shaken.

Or if they were premixed they might have dye lot numbers, and possibly you bought different dye lots.

For wallpaper you have to buy all of the same numbers to be absolutely certain you have a match.

You may need to call the first coat the "primer"
and paint it again.

I would be certain to, if you have the paints mixed that you dip a stirrer into EVERY one of the 5 gal. buckets and be POSITIVE that they match before you do the job. Allow them to dry completely and then look at the match.

You might take color snap shots of the house to show the paint store the problem.

How soon did you paint after the pressure washing? That really could be key that the walls weren't dry when you painted. Temperature can be key when you are painting, what was the Temp?

I do think not priming a house that hasn't been painted in 20 years might very well be the problem. It seals and allows uniformity.

Good Luck and Happy Holidays.

It depends on how high the ceilings are as well as the size of the rooms. If it's a McMansion, I have no idea. My guess for 1,250 square foot house would be about 4 gallons for the living room, dining room and hall, maybe 2 gallons (not quite for each bedroom) and about a little less than a gallon per bathroom, kitchen, probably 2 gallons--10 gallons more or less, depending on whether you need to prime some walls where there are stains or you've taken down wallpaper or did a lot of drywall repair. It also depends if you are painting the darker colors (green, red) that are popular now--darker colors will require a primer and more than one coat. Then you will also need a gallon of semi-gloss trim paint for the doors and molding. You'll also need rollers, roller covers, trays, tape, roller pole, brushes for cutting in and a set of small rollers and covers for the doors.

Always use a primer when painting any surface. The primer helps eliminate the old paint from bleeding through. When painting exterior surfaces always use a good primer like Zinsser 123 that protects against mold, mildew, cracking, blistering, and etc.

A primmer is like a security blanket. It shield's and protects the surface from harm and danger!!!!!!!!

After power washing wait atleast three days for the surface to dry adequately, and prime: this is the first commandment of painting.
THOU SHALT BOX THY PAINT THOROUGHLY (with three five gallon buckets, you have to mix them all together by pouring some from each container into a couple of empty containers and back and forth several times to homogenize the colour). no paint store gets it 100% right all the time this saves alot of trouble
THOU SHALT NOT PAINT IF IT IS BELOW FIFTY DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. unless you are using 35 degree paint it will leach causing the pigments to separate and float to the surface in dark and light streaks.
THOU SHALT NOT PAINT IN THE FOG OR THE RAIN. for if thou paintest in the fog or the rain, the paint will wash off the surface causing uneven colouration and an undesirable mess upon thy driveway and the street in front of thy house, causing thy neighbors to point and laugh, saying "pflr-r-r-r-r-r-rp-p-p-p-p! this person should not be allowed with a brush in our neighborhood, let us report him to the neighborhood association and subject him to public embarrassment

Prez say primer a must. Prez say you skip step to save money and now you need to buy primer and new paint. Prez say different colors because of uneven painting. Prez say primer would have helped. Prez say hire a pro. Prez say make sure they guarantee their work. Prez say if you pressure wash their work and colors are off, you say "RING RING" and they say "hello" and you say "my house is wrong color" they say "ok we come fix next week". Prez better know.

maybe he paint hasn't totally dryed yet. The darker colors could be where it's still moist.
Also if you pressure washed it, maybe it was still moist when you started painting. That's why it's not drying evenly.
Maybe????
