I am sure you are concerned, call several pharmacys and talk w/them to find out your answer. Even call the ER to talk w/someone to get the answer. Get several professional opinions.

I have a cousin who died when she was 40 because she had been on drugs. Some prescription, some not. She had been taking Soma for a while, and she would take them, and not remember if she took them then done it again. Until she had taken too much. It was one she took a lot because it was a prescribed one.

(different side of the family, so no connection to cousin who died)
I had a nephew who was 26 who died from an overdose of Soma. He had a back injury. He took Soma, in the beginning it was ok, then he lost track of when he took them. He slept off and on. He got to where he would take them and wake up, not think he had taken it, and took another, and the same thing. He died. Of course, on the autopsy it said accidental overdose. So Others I have known have done ok using it, I would just check it out w/professional people.
Look for sites where there is a message board and read about others who have used it and how they do with taking it.

I did this when my husband was taking Ambien. He done crazy stuff, but didn't believe us when we told him. Then one night he fell hit his head on(wooden) coffee table, had ten staples in his head. Now he believes us, as some of the side effects that others have had.

As far as being hung up on, I can believe it. There are some really nice nurses/secretaries, and then there are jerks. After my husband fell and we went to the ER, he was given some medication and then 2 hours later we were back in the ER, w/and acute allergic reaction. It took 6 hours of treating and watching him before we could go home. We were told for him not to take this one pill, and then one other that is a bloodpressure pill, and see his doctor in 2 days. As the blood pressure pill could cause those allergic symptoms. He is on dialysis and really has to have blood pressure meds. When I called the nurse and explained, they could not see him for a week, so I asked her if he should take his blood pressure med, and she said, that is up to you two, you will have to decide. I said what about if he is allergic, she said, then you take him back to the ER. I asked her if she could at least ask the doctor and let me know if she should take it, she said NO, he would not tell me, with out seeing him. My husband has been seeing this doctor, once a month for 3 years. He knows his case very well. We were able to find out two days later when he went to dialysis, and the nurse called the doctor and she wasn't happy w/him having to wait that long to find out. When we went to the doctor, I asked him what to do in a case like that, and he said to call the office and ask, I told him that I had, and that I was told that she would not ask him. I think he was shocked that it happened. So, I know that these kind of things can happen. I have had things to happen over the years, so don't let anyone tell you that they don't. I also have family and freinds in the medical field and they will tell you that it does happen.
Do your research on this drug. I know that husbands dont' want a snooping, nosey wife, but I have had to do this to protect my husband. Do what you have to do, and face the consequences of his anger, sometimes they need protecting and don't realize it. Soma I think CAN be a good thing, if it is taken right. But if you get dependent on it, !! Watch his moods, and his reactions and then let the doctor know, if you feel it is a threat.

I always thought 10 days was the maximum you should take a muscle relaxant like Soma without risking addiction. I suppose the doctor should know that, but my brother became very addicted to pain killers after he shattered his leg in 8 places. Getting him off the drugs was horrible. Use your best judgement and always keep in mind that not every doctor has your best interest as heart. I hate to say that, but its true.

Did you mean to type that he has been taking them 3x a day for 11 days now? I sure as heck hope so. 11 a day could kill him!

I know he can overdose on them. My father did several times when I was growing up. Soma is VERY addictive. I've heard people refer to them as Soma Coma before. My father actually went to rehab over Soma.

Soma is a very addictive drug. Most doctors around here won't even order them anymore. And YES, your husband could overdose on 11 a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is way tooooo much. Soma is not only a painkiller, it is a sedative. That's why people act so strange on them. I know when i took them i would shake, my whole body would shake and my Mum said i looked crazy???? Anyway, i'm not on them anymore........there are other muscle relaxers out there that are much better and don't make you look like an idiot and get addicted. Your husband is playing with FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get him off of them as he is abusing them BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Soma is a muscle relaxer (non-narcotic). I don't think he will overdose by taking 3 times a day. Don't worry, if he is doing his job and everything else ok give him a break. Don't ever judge a person's pain because nobody knows.

Iam sure u just are trying to care for him, but let the dr. do his job. If he is in pain then he sould take them. It is better to take them then hert. He could hert himself worse if he doest take them and is in pain.
