Anyone know of any songs that may portray the idea "i never thought you would get the chance to walk me down the aisle but you here you are better then ever"

My dad has been stuck in a wheel chair after surgical complications but they say he will walk again in 4-5 months (after 6 months in ICU)

I know its specific but i figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

Take a look at the words to the song "You'll Never Walk Alone" at www.alighthouse.com. Sure seems to fit....especially walking down the aisle. Congratulations!

It's a great idea. But I've never heard a song with words used for walking you down the aisle.

"The Impossible" by Joe Nichols:

My dad chased monsters from the dark
He checked underneath my bed
He could lift me with one arm way up over top his head
He could loosen rusty bolts with a quick turn of his wrench
He'd pull splinters from his hand and never even flinch
In thirteen years I'd never seen him cry
But the day that Grandpa died I realized

Chorus
Unsinkable ships sink
Unbreakable walls break
Sometimes the things you think could never happen,
Happen just like that
Unbendable steel bends
If the fury of the wind is unstoppable
I've learned to never under estimate the impossible

Then there was my junior year
Billy had a brand new car
It was late, the road was wet
I guess the curve was just to sharp
I walked away without a scratch
They brought the helicopter in
Billy couldn't feel his legs
They said he'd never walk again
But Billy said he would and his mom and daddy prayed
And the day we graduated he stood up to say

Chorus
Unsinkable ships sink
Unbreakable walls break
Sometimes the things you think could never happen,
Happen just like that
Unbendable steel bends
If the fury of the wind is unstoppable
I've learned to never under estimate the impossible

So don't tell me that it's over
Don't give up on you and me
'Cause there's no such thing as hopeless if you believe

Chorus
Unsinkable ships sink
Unbreakable walls break
Sometimes the things you think could never happen,
Happen just like that
Unbendable steel bends
If the fury of the wind is unstoppable
I've learned to never under estimate the impossible

I suggest you talk to the church and/or the musicians. Some churches are very particular about what music is, and is not, allowed.

I am sure an organist or pianist can make some suggestions.

I love the Ode to Joy from Beethoven's ninth. My wife and I left church to this piece. Considering your father's complications and future recovery, maybe this would be appropriate.

I just heard a country song on the radio this morning called "I loved her first" by Heartland. It doesn't fit the description you are looking for a song to walk down the isle, but i think it would be a really great father-daughter dance song. I wanted to share it with you, and best of luck to your father!

look at the two of you dancing that way
lost in the moment and each others face
so much in love you're alone in this place
like theres nobody else in the world

i was enough for her not long ago
i was her number one she told me so
and she still means the world to me
just so you know
so be careful when you hold my girl
time changes everything life must go on
and im not gunna stand in your way

i loved her first
i held her first
and a place in my heart will always be hers
from the first breath she breathed
when she first smiled at me
i knew the love of a father runs deep
and i prayed that she'd find you someday
but its still hard to give her away
i loved her first

how could that beautiful woman with you
be that same freckled face kid that i knew
the one that i read all those fairy tales to
and tucked into bed all those nights
and i knew the first time i saw you with her
it was only a matter of time

i loved her first
i held her first
and a place in my heart will always be hers
from the first breath she breathed
when she first smiled at me
i knew the love of a father runs deep
and i prayed that she'd find you someday
but its still hard to give her away
i loved her first
from the first breath she breathed
when she first smiled at me
i knew the love of a father runs deep
so yeah you might know what i'm going through
when a miracle smiles up at you
yeah i loved her first

I know you're going to get a lot of suggestions, but look at the words to "Wind Beneath My Wings" sung by Bette Midler. It says a lot and in regard to your dad, I believe it might bring you to your knees when you actually hear it sung. Good luck, and congrats on all your good news and happy endings.

http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/danaparish....if you are especially close to your Dad..listen to "she Laughed" by Dana Parish... and may your house always be to small to hold all of your friends. ( Irish Toast) p.s. you need a "Daddy's Dance" song as well for the rec.
