The Bible is compilation of books written by many people. The old testament spans over a few thousand years before Jesus was born. Some books in the new testament was written as early as 30 years after Jesus' death. The gospel of John was written about 50 years after Jesus' death and was written by John the apostle who was actually there with Jesus. Also the book of James, who was written by James, Jesus' half brother. Although they were actually there, their writings are still God breathed, (inspired by God). Reading the word of God is to feed our faith.

My opinion and it is only that. Man wrote the bible supposedly God spoke to man and man then wrote it down. However today's modern bibles have been interpreted and rewritten based on Gods words so at this point you are reading the writings of man only.
You would need to read the text of the old testament to get a closer interpretation of Gods own words but think about what the original text would have been written on. How many people have interpreted it since then? Even if they tried to do a faithful interpretation it is interpreted not really Gods words any more. However it is still something which will teach you how to be and live a good life.
Ever play the game in school or somewhere where you tell someone something and they tell someone, and they tell someone, and on and on until th story is finally revealed and it is usually so wrong everyone laughs. I believe the same would be true with the bible however I also believe that the goodness has not been stripped away.
Hope that helps

If you take a look at the back of the bible, it will usually tell you when each book of the bible was originally written. Like Genesis to Deuteronomy was written by Moses between 1513 - 1473 b.c.e.. The books were written thru out history by different prophets, kings and disciples. Matthew was written by Matthew in 41 c.e., about 9-10 yrs after Jesus died etc...
All the books of the bible may have been complied and put together into a bible 365 years after Jesus death, I'd have to look up more info on the date of the 1st bible.
Besides, don't you think that God would make sure that writings that have his stamp on them would be accurate and able to stand the test of time.

The Bible was written by perhaps 40 authors over a period of 1500 years, from approximately 1400 B.C. to 100 A.D. There are ancient manuscripts of the New Testament or portions of the New Testament that date back to the second century A.D. The Gospels and the Epistles include first hand testimony of eyewitnesses. There is nothing from the ancient world that is anywhere close to the reliability of the authenticity and integrity of the Scriptures.

The entire Bible wasn't written at the same time. Many New Testament writings (the parts concerning the life of Jesus) were written as soon as thrity years after the cross. Things weren't readily written down back then. Paper wasn't widely available. Two thousand years ago, life was very different. You seem to have some misconceptions about the Bible. I hope you continue to seek the truth about the situation.

The Bible was written by people under the spiritual guidance of God, or the Holy Spirit. Jesus did not write the Bible even while He was on earth. The portions of the Bible that are Jesus' words were written primarily by the disciples or apostles after his death.

Some of the Bible was written by people who where actually eye wittnesses of Jesus and his miracles. Not 365 years later like you say. Also think about this. Eleven of the twelve apostles of Jesus died horrible deaths. Drug to death by horses and such. One was even crucified, ( I think it was Paul) But when they told him that he was going to be crucifed he asked to be nailed to the cross upside down because he wasn't worthy of dying the same death as his savior. So my question to you is this. Why would eleven men KNOWINGLY go to their death for something they didn't believe in. I think just as they were lifting the hammer to nail the spike into Paul's hand he would have screamed out, 'It's all a lie, we made it all up' But you see, he couldn't deny what he saw with his own eyes.

It was "Complied" at that time. Many of the writings were done by the apostles right after Christ's death.
I believe the New Testament is overly edited by various groups over the years. We'll only know the WHOLE truth when Christ returns.
I am practicing my Christian Faith on just that Faith.
The basic instructions are not all that difficult to understand & follow.
The 10 Commandments, Believe Christ died for your sins & Love your fellow human beings as yourself.

They are not his words, but his desciples and followers, Jesus is not the author of the bible. Its written from the opinions of others, with their point of view, but the facts cross over.
All things change over time, and no1 knows for sure what is the truth, which is why religion is a faith as oppose to fact, its a belief that doesnt question itself.
If sum1 wanted true facts, its down to the science belief, i.e evolution.

Well, Jesus most likely spoke a language that was then translated to Greek. That was translated into a few different versions of English. So, you're right. It's been a while. But God told the people what to write... it takes faith to believe. It's all true, it all makes too much sense not to. I hope you find your faith and good luck believing.
God Bless
