Americans in general, are wasteful. We like big everything, so we fill our plates at home. We like restaurants better when the portions are gigantic ... we'll even complain if the portions are just right and fill us up just because they didn't 'look' big enough!

Kids see what's going on and they learn to be the same way. Take everything, eat what you want, and throw the rest away! There will always be hungry people in the world and we're not going to change. Do what you can to help the needy and set an example by not being wasteful yourself ... somebody will notice!

You are absolutely right. It is a sin to waste food in a world full of under-fed people. And it is not only food, we waste so many things, that we don't need but have. On the other hand there are so many things others need but don't have. That is unequal distribution. If you can do something to prevent such wastage, that will be a wonderful for mankind, both for haves and have-nots.

Because theirs so much of it, simply put.

Theirs no rationing, so we don't worry - food is as far as spar down the road, and cheaper than hell.
