With all the ranting and preaching from all sides that goes on in this forum, I wonder if it actually has any effect or if it is just people who want to hear themselves talk.

Has anyone actually changed their faith or religious beliefs based on what you have read here? What changed your mind?

Yes, I agree that you can learn about other religions and certainly about human nature on this forum, but that does not seem to be the objective of most who post here. Many of the "questions" are just preachy statements with "wouldn't you agree that..." tacked on the front. I just wanted to see if those actually work.

Admiralbob77 - You rock. I couldn't have said it any better myself.
Ronin - How did you get from my question to Islam bashing? I think you are one of those people who is trying to convert others to your way of thinking. Check out the other answers to see how effective that is...

perk1977 - So, in other words, you are here to convert people? You should look at the other answers posted here as well.

Well, of course not. Most of the questions that get asked are rhetorical, and the answers are often snide or cynical. There is no real spirituality in that, so how could it change my faith?

The atheists ask lowbrow baiting questions about whether Jesus drives monster trucks or died for the salvation of dolphins; the muslims post triumphalist non-questions in poorly-written English declaring that Islam is the only true religion; the christians ask why atheists post here and whether we really "came from monkeys"; and these three groups drown everyone else out with their loud honking and growling.

That's us in a nutshell. ;-)

Every once in a while, someone says something beautiful and profound. It doesn't change my faith any, but it warms my heart a little. :-)

Not in the least.

However, I think a lot of people did do a lot of research after coming in here.

When I first came in here, the Mozzies were having a fun time thinking that the people here wouldn't be any match for them and their inane drivel.

I used to help out people in the Computers and Internet and had never come into the R & S Section, then. There were some ladies, also from NYC whom I'd helped out and they'd got me to give them my cell number so that they could access me in case of Emergency and I'd kinda become a big brother to them.

One day, one of these ladies told me of the run in she'd had with the gang of Mozzies here, who'd made her cry and I got mad!?

I know all about Islam and it's many chinks and have always been of the opinion that we should stem their immigrations and remove their Mosques and ghettos from here; because I grew up in England and have seen, first hand, what they have done there. In fact a few of my best friends are murtad fitris [born Muslim Converts to Christianity] who had told me all about their "Religion" and it's actual Agenda. The Governments of both UK and USA are well aware of this but cannot do much due to Politics.

So, when I came into R&S first, I became the Muslim gangs' worst nightmare. This was four months ago and I, incidentally, had that ID of mine terminated then because I'd given the Mozzies here a what for.

That only got me mad angry, because I then had a level 6 with something like 40 % Best Answers and they terminated my account for taking on the Mozzies for my friends, I think, about a dozen times!?

Now, I don't use Yahoo for any mail or other Services and will never subscribe to them for their being pro-Muslim, as my friends have also done and our numbers are, incidentally, growing.

But, I still come in here once in a while, only to kick the Mozzie butt mostly, while I also help out people with Computer and Software problems because I'm a Professional.

If anything, it's Yahoo that's learning about it's mistakes of letting the Mozzies rule here.

You might have noticed that the Top Answerer suddenly changed from Mr.Mister, a Mozzie who'd been leading the gang to "I am a Catholic" now. and that the Mozzies are more on the defensive, nowadays; because everyone is throwing the stuff I'd given here long back, at them.

I know that one lady friend of mine is having a ball bashing them with all the stuff i gave her a month ago.

Me? I'm not to keen on this place, because it's hardly any "discussion" here. It's a boring harangue, at best.

Well, they asked for it.

Merry Christmas!!!!

I think the most important thing about a place like YA (Yahoo Answers) is the possibility of some real dialog and listening and learning about and from each other, and about yourself and your beliefs in the process...

from a lot of what I have seen here, that is often hard to find and accomplish, because so many people won't listen, nor will they try to talk reasonably and thoughtfully

many do, though...

it is tough to wade through all the dross at times....

I have learned a lot from Y.A, but I have not changed my views. I did try to go to Church for a few months to see what was so compelling to Christians, but I still could not believe in their religion.

Regardless, I am more reinforced not to believe in God(s) since I have started posting and reading comments on this board. I have asked some questions which produced frightening answers, such as people willing to kill their children, and looking forward to the end of the world. To these and similar answers I have started to have a distrust in religion that I never had before.

I used to be very anti-christian, but it kinda wore off after a while. Then I came here and was overwhelmed with Christian stupidity. I'm not talking about the general kind of stupidity you will find with any group (horrible misspellings, etc). I'm talking about the same old Christian arguments that are based solely on logical fallacies. An intellectually honest person would abandon such irrational thought, but not a Christian!

If I saw more Christians being open to science, historical evidence, and logic, I might become a little more tolerant. But at this point, I see little to no improvement.

Muslims, on the other hand, continue on their downward spiral. That's one benefit I can find with the radical Christians: they really don't like the Muslims. That makes me happy.

No, I would not change from my faith. I see YA as a way to help others who really want to know the truth and want to change from being lost, unfulfilled or doomed. I also disagree with people who scare others from the truth of and in Jesus Christ because of their pride or overzealous desires. As a minister and a believer, my main purpose is to help others see the true Light and true Way. I am here to encourage, and build up others and tear down demonic influences and false doctrines. I don't hate anyone but Satan and his forces.

How precisely does technology practice God's word? Please make clean. i replaced into below the impact that the church rejects many theories of technology through fact it contradicts the word of God. If the cat you're finding at is evidence of creationism, then the canines i'm finding at is evidence of evolution. I admire people who choose for to have faith in a faith, yet frankly I even have none on your type who tries to belittle people who're diverse. the character of technology comprises consistent exchange in our information. that's what technology is. Disproved theories are no longer lies. They have been basically the suitable knowledgeable "guess" based on the understanding available on the time. As we benefit greater understanding, we benefit a greater suitable information. Who precisely are those "scientist" colleagues of yours? Meteorologists? Agronomists? Botanists? useful they are scientists, however the character of their container isn't comparable to, say paleontologists. Agronomists can learn from real-time archives and preform reason and result experiments. they might plant a crop in 10 categories of soil and decide it relatively is acceptable. Paleontologists paintings with fossils that they locate interior the floor. they won't be able to preform any trial and mistake experiments and for this reason ought to make knowledgeable "guesses" based on the collective archives that has been accrued by way of the years. consistent with possibility you do no longer even classify paleontologists as scientists. i do no longer think of you have sufficient information of what technology relatively is. Todays faith is tomorrows fantasy. you think of it replaced into loopy for the Greeks to have faith of their Gods? i ask your self what people 2000 years from now will say approximately your God who will deliver those he supposedly likes to hell. Peace.

Possibly, but anybody who would change their religious beliefs through an internet forum didn't have a very mature faith to begin with and will probably keep flip-flopping until they grow up a little.

No, but I have learned a lot about different beliefs, which helps me to understand where people are coming from better - and I think that's good.
