We will be tiling our bathroom floor a job we have done before on our upstairs bathroom.
When you reset the toilet do you caulk around the bottom of the toilet, or is there something else to use? I only ask because hubby has to redo the upstairs around the toilet, because he didn't caulk around it at the bottom, and now when my boys go to the bathroom, well it's not pretty around and under the toilet, and cleaning under that small gap is not easy either.

It is best to caulk the toilet to the floor to prevent "stuff" from getting lodged under the edge and staining or building up....crud. But alot of times this is difficult to do once the toilet has been set. A standard caulking gun is usually too large to manuever around the base of the toilet without hitting something and ruining the perfect bead of caulk. You can try to use the small squeeze tubes of bathroom caulk instead. These can be a little tough to manuever also. Just use patience. I trace a light pencil line around the outline of the toilet before I set it in the wax ring and bolt it down. Then pull the toilet back out and run a thick bead of caulk on the flooring. Then you can set the toilet down and fasten it to the floor. You can then use your finger or a damp rag to smooth the bead of caulking out for a nice finish. Good Luck.
