you can go back the next dayunless you get a dry socket then it will take an extra day
actually i went from work had them out and returned to work that afternoon and 1 was impacted
cool soft non spicey foods are best for the first few days
they gave me tylenol with codiene for the pain but i only had to take it once a few hours after the procedure then i had no more pain
they tell you to apply ice packs every 20-30 min. for 5 min. to reduce swelling of the face
you will need to keep your mouth very clean especially after you eat by rinsing with warm salt water

Well, I would take a couple days off. I don't really remember the first 2 days after. It must have been some good stuff they gave me lol. I kinda remember wanting a number 1 from Wendy's and I was like screaming and pounding on the car seat. I couldn't eat much. They won't allow you to have dairy products. I tried to eat toast. I didn't take a shower for like 3 days. I couldn't even function after the anesthesia. My friend took a shower right when she got home and she bleed everywhere. I guess the shower was too hot. I got really mean and violent also from the anesthesia. Ummm... what else. Oh the after care. I had to irrigate the part where they were every day after the dr took my stitches out. He also put this yellow stuff in there that was soaked in cloves. I did that for like 2 weeks. I got dry sockets and I didn't even smoke. Those gave me ear aches for about 2 months. I know another girl who got hers out and went out that night. But, I didn't leave bed for like 3 days. They gave me Percocet. And all 4 were impacted.

You might make your boss aware of what is going on and tell her there is a possibility you may need time off. Then go to work if you can. If you can't, give them as much notice as possible.
As for food, I would eat pudding, jello and really soft foods, mashed potatoes, applesauce, nothing sharp or scratchy until your wounds are healed or at least are confident that no bleeding is likely. Your dentist can give you more advice.
I need to have a couple of wisdom teeth pulled too, so I can commiserate with you. Good luck.

I took several days off, but I had to have mine dug out (can't remember what they call it), they hadn't actually grown in yet. I think that makes a big difference. Plus they had me on some serious pain killer and my a** was knocked out for several days.
I just ate a lot of top ramen. The dental surgeon gave me a syringe to fill with water, and then I squirted it into the holes where my teeth used to be, to flush out any food particles so they didn't fester back there, and I did that for several weeks until the holes healed up.

depends on the person. i had all 4 wisdom teeth out and it was horrible. i ended up with dry sockets and that was painful. i took great care of my mouth after surgery. rinsed my mouth out with salt water and i didn't barely eat and i still got dry sockets (infection) my hubby had his all out at same time and he smoked a cig on way home for surgery. he was at work the next day with no problems

Are you being put under to have them taken out? My daughter had them out under total sedation, she was a little goofy the rest of the day, and her jaw was a little achy the next day, but she went back to school the next day. I had mine out with just Novocain, and went back to work the same day.
