I seriously can't take that stuff. I just feel like I am bouncing off the walls. In fact, I can't take any "D" medications at all. You really have to be careful with your blood pressure.

Zrtec works well for allergies even though it's not necessarily a decongestant. The other medication that works well is Clarinex by prescription. It's not like Claritin D.

Best of luck

Personally, I have been taking Claritin-D (with the pseudo-ephedrine) for about 4 years now and I haven't had any side effects with it. Especially, numbness and dizziness. Is she taking any other medication? The ingredients in it may be reacting to the other meds if that is the case or your mom may be allergic to it. I would go talk to your primary care physician about that. Edit: just looked at website provided in Answerer's above post and I have NEVER experienced any of those symptoms.

I take claritin...usually, I experience no side effects except occasionally a bad stomach. If you are having a bad reaction, you can try taking something else..
For example, Sudafed, Reactine, Actifed, DayQuil, Nyquil and several others.
Personaly, Claritin isn't so great, it takes forever to work and often is known to give side effects.

I took Claritan once and it made me so dizzy and sick to my stomach. But, everyone is different. Other medicines have done that to me too. I'd never give up allergy medicine all together. I think it's just a matter of finding what works best for you.

I take Tylenol Severe Allery caps because everything else makes me sick, even the Claritan.
