My elder sister had her ears pierced and she developed swellings, that returned even after surgery, i want to pierce my ears and i fear getting the same problem, is it likely to happen to me ?

If her "swellings" were keloid, then the answer is Yes. You have a high risk of them yourself. Keloids are nothing more than excessive scar tissue. They are hereditary, predominantly in black people whose ancestery is from Africa. Best of luck!

to answer your question, you need to answer another: have you been injured before where a scar has formed? while having a family member who has had keloids does put you at greater risk, how you heal after injury is the best prognosticator. another risk factor is dark skin tones.
