Im making lemon bars and it the recipe says, using a pastry blender, to cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Should the butter be melted?Im just using a regular mixer. HELP please quickly>>>>>

no, it can be soft though...just chop it in the mixture little by little

No! Don't melt the butter! And don't use a regular mixer.
If you don't have a pastry blender, which looks like this...

use your hand-held electric mixer to sort of mash the ingredients together (don't turn it on).

I always use cold butter for that, and if you don't have that pastry blender, you can use two forks or two knives.
