Yes..it is highlights and like they said above it is not a drastic change. So unless you are already a very very light brown or darker blonde I wouldn't suggest trying it, because if you have darker hair more than likely your hair will turn orangish. Yuck!

Also stay far far away from SunIn like products that say they are made with Lemon Juice or whatever, they are pretty much straight peroxide which will harshly damage your hair and also turn it orange.

Be very careful, if you want highlights pay to have them done :) Goodluck!

Highlights are lightened streaks of hair that add volume to your hair. Lemon juice is acidic, therefore, when you apply the heat from the sunlight, it will lighten your hair. I've tried both lemon juice and hydrogen peroxide(the stuff in the medical section of the store), and I really like the hydrogen peroxide. However, hydrogen peroxide will only work if you have normal to oily hair, if you have hair that is dry it will ruin your hair more than using a curling iron. I have the differences listed below.

The best method is to take a cotton ball and soak it in the selected liquid, and then starting at the roots of a segment of hair, run the cotton ball down the hair repeatedly until the hair is thoroughly damp. Repeat with segments all around your head, including under the topmost layer of hair. If there isn't any sun, you can use a hair dryer, or just sleep and wash your hair in the morning. This method will work for medium to light hair colors, but if you have dark it would be best to have a professional stylist do it. Even the lighter hair colors would be better off, because a professional can make the highlighting job look natural. If you still are concerned, go to a local beauty college and ask questions, they should be able to help you.

You can tell what kind of hair you have, by what it looks like. If it almost always feels like you put lotion in your hair, then you have oily hair, but this is when your hair doesn't have any sprays or gels in it. You can usually make this better by using little or no conditioner. Normal hair is a little oily next to the scalp, but towards the ends it is a little dry. You shouldn't have to make any changes towards your hair care. Dry hair will feel kind of like hair held over a candle, but it hasn't burnt yet. I think the best method to determine if you have dry hair, is to look at how long you have to use a curling or straightening iron on your hair, if it is a short time or low temperature, then you most likely have dry hair.

It's probably a typo. I have heard that this can work - putting lemon juice on your hair to get blonde highlights. However I have not had any success with this. I think your hair has to be very light blonde already to notice a difference. You also need heat, that's why they recommend sitting in the sun. It's the combination of the acid in the lemon and the heat that will give you the blonde color.
If you want guaranteed blonde highlights, you need to use a product that contains a chemical lightener like bleach. If your hair is dark, please go to a professional to have highlights done. It's tricky to lighten your hair correctly at home and then you may have to go get it professionally corrected, which is an added expense.

Yes lemon juice does work to lighten hair. Not as dramatically as dye would but it gives natural looking sunny highlights.
