I don't recall the Bible saying anything specifically about smoking although it's bad for you and smoking doesn't treat your temple (the Bible says that your body is a temple of the Lord) very well. Beer wasn't really around back then (I don't think) but the Bible says you aren't supposed to get drunk so as long as you do it in moderation I guess it's ok. Personally, I don't like even the idea of drinking alcohol but that's just me.

These same options have been around since long before Jesus walked upon this planet in human form. In your own opinion do you think walking by Jesus that he would be drinking a beer & while having takeing a smoke stop?
Remember that he was very special even for his time and we all have some type of weakness so don't become discouraged!

It is ok if it is for medicinal reasons,(bladder, female problems, etc.) to drink beer or wine but it is not ok to get drunk and drink just BECAUSE. ( 1 Timothy 3:3 1 Timothy 5:23 )
No Smoking has been proven to cause cancer and this harms our bodies and we are told by God in his inspired word that we are not to harm our bodies. ( 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; 15:44)

God provides answers to ALL our questions in his word.

If Jesus drank wine I don't see why not- everything in respect and moderation. Though in the modern sense I think smoking is a health hazard so why do that. My father is one of the best examples of a good Christain man I know and he smokes a pipe after dinner every night. I doubt he's going to Hell.

A great question. This falls in the same category as drinking, gambling, and other questionable activities.

Paul wrote under the inspiration of God in 1 Corinthians 6, "All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be enslaved by anything." He similarly wrote in 1 Corinthians 10, "not all things build up." He also wrote that if something he does causes his brother who is weaker in faith to stumble, he would do anything, even go vegetarian (1 Corinthians 8)! The Holy Spirit may be at work in our lives when we are led to ask ourselves if something we are doing is acceptable to God or not.

The truth is, when people try to run right up to the line of sin, but not step over, they are actually being legalistic. I hear all the time people say they can drink alcohol, as long as they don't "become drunk." Paul said we are living in the age of grace now. We need to be doing things in light of the fact that God will one day call us to account for the things done in the body. This means not only endeavoring not to sin, but living a life set apart in pursuit of God. In my prayer life, should I ask God, how hard can I hit my wife before it's considered abuse? Wrong question.

Hank Hanegraaff has a great statement on his radio show, "The Bible Answer Man." He says in regards to spiritual matters, "In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity." This is a non-essential, but yet I think the mandate is clear for the mature believer.

Christians are never instructed not to drink, but not to be a drunk, or drunk on too much wine (I imagine any alcohol would apply, not just wine). The bible does say your body is a temple, but does not specifically address smoking. I don't think you'll go to hell for smoking, but you may end us smelling like you just came from there. LOL

To stay sober it what Jesus wants us to do. But one of the first miracles he committed was to fill a barrel of good wine at a wedding. To keep our body as a holy temple pure and clean, but if you smoke you wont go to hell you will smell like youve been there.

Paul wrote to the church in Corinth that all things were lawful but that one should not be consumed by them (under the power of) and that, if it did not edify Christ and His teachings (bad role model / bad example) that maybe we shouldn't be doing them.

1Corinthians 6:12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

1Corinthians 10:23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

I like a cold beer now and then but I don't have a 12-pack in the fridge to get hammered on.

Again, Paul wrote that our bodies are temples and that we should take care of them.

1Corinthians chapter 6
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

I'm an ex-smoker so I can relate/empathize with smokers. It's extremely hard to quit.

thats a serious question? LOL
well I don't see it as being a sin if thats what you mean.
besides... who am I to judge.
it does say that drunkeness is a sin but not drinking.
there is a difference and as with any sin it can be named and
has been forgiven.
Jesus did turn wine into water for our enjoyment :)
I guess I'm not the moral Christian you were hoping for.
