That Mary was a virgin?

Now I know women can get pregnant without their hymen being broke, but back in those days the chances were pretty slim.

They had no artificial insemination or anything. Also, wasn't she married to Joseph? How long? Didn't they do it during their wedding night?

Another question is this, how much pain was she in during her birth. Think about it, her hymen wasn't broke so she had to squeeze this kid out through that and her canal, and she had no drugs and was lying in a filthy manger.

Couldn't God at least have given her something for all that trouble of getting his kid out?

Please give me some scientific evidence, not just because "the book said so"

The books were not written by Mary or Joseph.

Because it is written.

Mat 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Luk 1:34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

You want proof and scientific evidence, just wait, it won't be long until Christ returns.

Read Luke 1. When the angel Gabriel told Mary that she would conceive and bear a son, she asked him how this was possible since she was a virgin.

Such a question, coming from an engaged woman, would make no sense at all -- unless Mary had taken a lifelong vow of virginity.

If she hadn't taken such a vow, she would not have to ask how such a conception would take place. As an engaged woman, she would have assumed that her pregnancy would happen "the normal way" -- but that's not what she assumed. She asked how this could be.

Why else would an engaged woman ask how she was going to get pregnant -- unless she had vowed lifelong virginity?

As for your question regarding the hymen: it's actually not a difficult thing to break, and I doubt it would cause much, if any, additional pain.

During the pains of childbirth, the breaking of the hymen during labor would probably not be felt or noticed.

This is about the prophecy in Isaiah about the women. I have read many times that the original says "a woman", the virgin was inserted later.
I do not believe in the virgin birth. The only way I would believe in it is if, God sacrificed the man, and made the woman, then placed the baby adam in her womb. If someday, genetics should trace humans back to a single mother, I would believe in the virgin theory.
This teaching shuts every woman out. Just another subliminal attack on woman, I figure.

I don't believe in the so-called Virgin Birth; that is, conception with intercourse. It goes against practical science. Also, it was an attempt by the early church to mystify Jesus; an attempt easily accepted by the early members. Also, the Council of Nicea had something to do with expounding it.

It always comes back to the trinity for me. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit all being the same person. So Jesus impregnated his own mother to be born. Really dumb when you think about it. But then religious people don't really think then do they?

There was a time that the word "virgin" meant innocent rather than sexual virginity. I believe that was the case with the Virgin Mary.

Maybe you are getting a little too involved in this---it was as it was.

And, Christianity and Islam both say she was a virgin, so-OK..if they believe it.

It says so in the Qur'an and the Bible

'(The angel) said: "I am only a Messenger from your Lord, (to announce) to you the gift of a righteous son."
She said: "How can I have a son, when no man has touched me, nor am I unchaste?"
He said: "So (it will be), your Lord said: 'That is easy for Me (Allah): And (We wish) to appoint him as a sign to mankind and a mercy from Us (Allah), and it is a matter (already) decreed, (by Allah).”
(Qur'an 19:19-21)
