My 3 year old boxer started coughing yesterday morning. He feels warm to me and his eyes are releasing a thick yellowish mucus (his eye goobers are usually dark in color and not very much). What is wrong with him and should he see a vet?

Call the vet, give him the symptoms. Unless you do a rectal temperature, you can't be sure if he has a fever or not. Eye drainage that is as described can be an infection. He may need to be seen and a course of antibiotics started.

You should bring him to the vet. Anytime a dog has unusual discharge from it's eyes he should be seen by a vet. This is usually a sign of infection, but nothing to worry about. Your vet will probably put him in an antibiotic.

You should take the boxer to your local vet there they can treat him more in likely its just a cold. Theyll give him some drops to put in his eyes and a liquid or tablete to give to him for his cough. It should cost that much but then again its vets we are talking about. Good luck and hope he gets feeling better.

Sounds like he has kennel cough. Yes, you should call the vet. This is very contagious, similar to the flu in humans. He should be vaccinated against kennel cough (Bordatella) every 8 months if you put him in a kennel often or if he is around other dogs a lot. It doesn't mean he won't still get kennel cough, just not as bad, like a flu shot.

How long has he been coughing? If for more than 3 days you need to take him to the vet asap. He may have something hung in he throat.
