I am a professional piercer, and I really have never seen a tongue that I could not pierce. It sounds to me like the guy is not really experienced with tongue piercings, or he would know how to pierce you, and pierce you straight. You need to seek out another piercer. The best way would be to go here: http://www.safepiercing.org/memLocator.php
These people will be able to guide you to a person who has the experience and training to pierce you safely.

Good luck!!

I am sorry I am not sure I understand the problem here.

You want your tongue pierced. OK. The piercer advised you that it was not a good idea based on your anatomy and that he would not in fact pierce it for you. And you want to know if we (Yahoo! Answers community) think it's a good idea to get it done anyway?

Umm... in a word. NO.

There is no harm in going to a few other qualified piercings and asking their opinions, but I have heard that if your anatomy is not right for it getting a tongue piercing can cause serious complications. I was lucky mine went very smoothly and I have had no problems with it in the last 4 years.

Please do some more research about this type of piercing and what can go wrong before you just jump into it.

Best of Luck!

You can get the webbing cut further back by a doctor. My sister's web had her barely able to stick out her tongue so they surgically cut the webbing back further. She had her tongue pierced twice after this.

I stress that she went to a doctor and had it done surgically. Getting an infection (hepetitis isn't fun) won't help your tongue piercing so go to a real hospital, get your web cut, then go to a real piercer and get your tongue pierced.

don't get the bottom angled towards your bottom teeth. mine was slightly angled and it pushed my gums down. if my dental hygenist hadn't noticed it there was a definite possibility of tooth loss. i ended up taking it out after having it for six years. and my gums are slowly healing, it's been 2 already but they're not back to normal.
