constantly. I have been giving him water several times a day. But if I leave it out he won't stop drinking it. My mom gave him a bath and when she placed him in the water he wouldn't stop drinking it. I let him outside he did his business and then ater I brought him in he went again in 20 minutes. So now I cut him down to several drinks a day but not a whole bowl. He seems like he is more thirtly. I cut out his drinks after 10 and place him in his cage and let him out at 6 a.m. He holds all night. Anyone have had this problem and any suggestions welcomed. How much should he be drinking in a full day. He weighs about 20 pounds.

Dogs dont drink for fun, they are thirsty, doing this because it is convenient for you is wrong. He may have a problem that needs addressing if he seems constantly thirsty. DO NOT cut water supply. PS dogs urinate all the time and a pup does not has self control just like babies. He will when he grows up but be patient.(diabetes can cause this)

I just got done training my puppy from doing the exact same thing - so here it is OK. I was leaving the water bowl down so she could drink as she wanted and she went potty alot OK , but then I asked a professional about it and they told me not to leave the water down just put it down let her get a drink then pick it back up - the same goes for the food bowl. I found that puppy treats helped alot when she would go outside like a good lil pup I would give her one. Then I trained her to ring a bell when she needed to go outside. That was fun for the whole family . All you do is get a bell like a bird bell and place it or hang it by the door and when u take ur pup outside just ring the bell - it will help if u put peanut butter on it and point to it every time u take him/ her out then in no time they will do it on their own. That way u can take ur pup to a friends house and worry about if he /she will potty in the house. I hope this helps.

Call the vet and ask him if he believes this is normal.

What he might want you to do is monitor how much the puppy is drinking. You would tally up how much water the puppy drank over a 24 hour period, then tell the doctor the amount. He would be able to tell from that if it's too much or just right.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/530mZ

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

it is good for you to cut off the water after 10, also try giving him ice cubes in between drinks it will crave his thirst and wont rush the water to his bladder. He still is young and he is trying to figure out his body too. My puppy used to drink a lot of water really fast and then throw it up within 5 minutes cause she didnt really know how her body worked. She has learned now that if she drinks slower she wont get sick. Good Luck

Sounds like your puppy needs to see the vet. He could have something wrong with his bladder causing him to go all the time or he could be diabetic, yes animals can have diabetes. You better have it checked out. You shouldn't shut his water off if he is thirsty. But I would definitely take him to the vet ASAP. Good Luck!!
