Please take some time to read about the personality and characteristics of each breed. The worse thing you can do is choose a dog solely based on it's looks.

For example, you wouldn't want a St. Bernard in a one room efficiency. You also wouldn't want a high energy dog like a Border Collie if you don't have time to exercise them and a big yard for them. If you were looking for an outdoor dog, you wouldn't buy a toy Poodle. You wouldn't want a one person dog in a family of 7 kids.

So understand before you acquire a dog. It's only fair to both of you.

You need to give us more information (such as your lifestyle, do you have kids, how much time do you have to devote to a dog) for us to give you an appropriate answer. My wife and I have 2 huskies, so we are rather partial to huskies; however, I do like labs as well. So, again, it depends on your lifestyle, etc. Give us more information and we will be better able to help you. Oh, and to "cominatch" who said labs are dumb and hard to train - they are not dumb, but they do take a year or two to mature and grow out of their "puppyhood." As for labs being hard to train, "cominatch" has obviously never owned or tried to train a husky. Huskies can be very stubborn, and may or may not obey a command once it is learned - it depends on their mood at the time, and whether or not they really want to obey that command at the particular moment it is given.

The Husky is a cold weather dog! they suffer in hot climates! Labs can take hot weather better than Huskies!
So first of all where do you live? If it is a hot climate then Huskies are out unless they are going to be kept in air conditioning most of the time.
If that is not a factor you need to research the two breeds to see which on best suits your family. i.e. which one fits in with your family the best. i.e. lots of kids, or just you! big house or apartment! big yard or small yard. Indoor dog or outside dog. Watch dog or companion, other dogs or single dog family, cats or no cats. Lot of socializing or little socializing.
Those are some of the things you need to consider when getting a new dog, not just which one you think is the cutest.

I take it you are asking which one you should get? If that is the case, if you have children, labs with kids. They love to play with one another. I have had both and I would choose a lab over a husky just because of my kids!!

Both are great dogs. I own a black lab and a husky and they are best of friends. The lab is more obediant, attention seeking and loving. The husky is more laid back and quiet. She is loving as well but not as hyper as the lab. It depends on your personality and somewhat on how you raise them.

After watching my neighbors husky climb their 8 foot fence and run away for the 90th time, I'd go for a lab. Huskies are awesome dogs but I don't have the time it takes to give them the number of miles of excercise they need every day and I really don't have time to brush them out as often as they need it. I'll take a nice calm, loving lab :) but if I ever did have the time, strength and energy for a husky, I'd love to have one.

Do you have time to maintain a husky, they are beautiful but require lots more grooming! They are both great dogs, it just depends on why you are wanting the dog. Do you have children? Other pets? Room for a large dog, they are both large and energetic. Will they be fenced in or ran on a leash, the lab will need lot's more running time. Keep these things in mind. and good luck.

That just depends on the time and effort you are willing to put into the animal. Huskies are obviously very high energy dogs after all they were bred to pull sleds in the freezing snow. Labs are also high energy dogs originally bred for hunting. If you do not have the time to exercise the dog properly you will be miserable while your dog is eating your furniture and everything else it can get to.

I had a lab/husky mix (purebreds on both sides - ooops!) and he had the best characteristics from both breeds. I always said that if you could breed those two and get the same results, it would be the best dog ever!

He was great!!!
