I just read PetLover's questions about the irrelevant American answers on here.

Now in my opinion, regardless of how you feel, wouldn't it have been better to just move on to another forum rather then slam another country's people?

I can't believe I let this get to me like this, but it really bothers me that people can be that ignorant and crude.

Futhermore, that should have been a question posted in the Yahoo Answers section, not Dog (as should this one, but no one would know what I was talking about if I posted this there).

Is it me? Or did this person REALLY cross the line by posting that?

Debsh, there's a reason you're getting thumbs down on all your answers.......maybe it's time to quit falppin' your jaws and think about that one.

I'm simply asking if anyone else took this as personally as I did. You're telling me to chill out about this yet you're crying because people are giving you thumbs down. Try putting things into perspective will ya?

I realize that this person didn't understand the way YA works, but maybe they should have thought about their words prior to opening their mouth.

Steve French, everyone has a bad reputation for SOMETHING. It is up to us as individuals to overcome those stereotypes and try to respect people for who they are. Whether you believe the same things as them or not. Accept the fact that no one is perfect and that we are all wrong at times.

I heard it said once "Freedom is the ability to stand and shout at the top of your lungs about everything you believe in while someone else is standing right noext to you shouting at the top of their lungs against it."

None of us believe everything everyone else believes. Mother Theresa once said, "I am not against anything, I am only for one thing".

Many people died for this freedom and so I think of them when I hear someone say something I disagree with.

I don't think they crossed a line, I just think that they don't understand how the site works.

When I used to only answer on the Canadian site, I wasn't aware that the questions were also posted on the general site (though only some of them appeared here). I think that happens on the other English speaking portions of yahoo answers also. So someone may think they're asking a question only on the British or Canadian site and be surprised when they get answers that are very well meaning but actually are quite irrelevant.

PetLover's comment was rude and it was unnecessary to direct it to Americans since it's a mistake that's being made by people from all countries but I think I understand the source of their frustration.

I enjoy the fact that one question can have answers from a 12 yr. old, a 60 yr. old, people from multiple countries and backgrounds. It's what makes this site relevant and interesting. For me, the flip answers from someone just trying to get 2 points that don't mean anything really don't bother me and I've found some excellent information I wasn't even looking for as I've travelled the site. :)

Good morning!

Yes, sometimes it is better to just "move on."

I was a tad irked, especially when I read some of the rather ignorant answers. I was also saddened to see the example of supposedly irrelevant American answers was a 1,000 word answer to a question about kennel club registration.

The American that gave such a detailed answer was probably doing their very best to help and deserved thanks and not scorn.

Going back and reading the added-on bits it seems some folks in the UK thought this was a UK site and Americans were just jumping in to an "obviously Ireland-UK only site".

But seriously, go back to the question if you haven't and it might make you feel better to realize that many of the comments were based on a misunderstanding about the nature of this forum.

Maybe folks need to state they are looking for British-only input??

Have a good day.

Okay, I can see your point here, but I have just read it with some details added and not sure where it was with details when you posted. I can understand the point of the poster as AKC information is not of much use over in the UK.

But it was also mentioned that the sites here and there overlap and so I think it wasn't realized that this occured and caused some confusion.

So I see what you're saying, but I can understand the frustration of that poster with getting answers from US residents, when they don't really help over in the UK. From my experience, typing is way different than speaking to someone and it's easy for something to be taken in a worse way than it was intended.

I think the best thing would be for posters who have certain specific questions to at least mention where they are located, such as "mid west US", UK, Canada, etc...

I'm telling you...these "British" people sure don't like Americans. They think we intentionally read "british" questions...when in fact I always make sure I'm under the US flag and under "USA questions only." It's not our fault that their questions pop up..and it's definitely not our fault that they don't like our answers. The same thing happened to me last week...with a woman asking about bestiality under this section and she "stalked" me for days because I was an American and she didn't like what I said. I couldn't believe I let something like the internet get to me so I know how you feel. But yes I do feel sort of offended, not because of someone on the internet, but just because like you said..how can people be so ignorant. If everyone would just learn to stop being so judgemental about other nationalities this would be a much better world.

Yes, people are so raciest, but really, if someone wants respect, they have to be respectful themselves. The question and a lot of the answers were very distasteful, and I am sure there will be several reports on him.

I wouldn't let it eat at you, people like that are just ignorant them- selves! ( I am not talking about all Brits, just the ones that think they are better than Americans. Try to see everyone as equals, ya know because we all are human.)

Im glad you posted this. I think they did cross the line. I think they just read a bit to far in the whole British questions thing.

I think if people want their questions answered ONLY by a specific group, whether it be british, american, jew, etc...they should say so on the question or details. Not sit and complain b/c Americans answered.

I personally am not offended at all.
The American Kennel Club or any other organization would not help someone out of the country. This person did not realize that there countries questions about dogs get put here on our American site. I would be very irritated if the questions i really needed help on were for someone living in another part of the world.
True this question could have been put in several different locations, since this person asks about her/his dog the dog section was the most logical place for the question....
Just my thoughts on the matter, Lord knows I do not follow the leader so these are uniquely my thoughts....
Have a great day!

well I didnt see the question - maybe you could have posted a link??

I will say the biggest problem I have on here is people (usually Americans) asking questions like
how much does ___________ cost?
or what kind of food is the best?
etc

without mentioning where they live - they just ASSUME everybody else here is in the USA.. and infact this isnt the case...so I post back where are you from.. then I find out its as I suspected the USA...

I suspect she posted here for the same reason you did.. to get the attention of the peopel she was refering to

you want to know the reason why is becouse the americans got a reputation of being know it all blow hards who think they are the centre of the world. go almost anywhere in the world and they will tell you that. and you know what it would not be so bad if they did not push there feelings of greatness on everyone. do they even know anything about other countries? maybe if you stepped outside of your bubble you will see that i am right
