I understand what your saying. More of experiences and realationships.
Yes, when you are hurt, I think your a little less vunerable the next go around. Like being a little more hesitant to fall too deep too quickly. It doesn't necessarily make the hurt less the second, third or forth time; but it does make you stronger because you know what is going on, why your feeling the way you do and that you will rise again. So Yes, alot of experiences does make you stronger if it doesn't kill you first.

Well I think thats true...Its like running 4 miles...Its REALLY hard but people do it. If you keep doing it you'll be stronger and in no time guess what? Those 4 miles are a breeze! Even after one time of doing the 4 miles you will be stronger because You'll be more confident and know that you can do anything you set your mind to. Its not just physically stronger but mentally as well. Makes you more confident.

People often say this - but I don't agree. I think a lot of hard knocks can actually put people off moving on in their lives, and make them bitter, cynical and demotivated. It very much depends on our personality to begin with, but I think it is much easier to have a positive attitude and to be optimistic if you haven't had life's carpet pulled from under you on numerous occasions.
Look at all the people in their 30s and 40s who are set in their ways? If they were more optimistic, they could do more with their lives, but often they have risked things and failed so many times they have given up.
I am not trying to be negative here, but hearing this "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" trotted out - it's certainly not true in all cases. People get scarred by their past, not everyone can shake that hard luck off.

Hmm, interesting question! I too have been through a lot in my life and most of it has not been nice but "I WONT LET THE BASTARDS GRIND ME DOWN!" I have become stronger in many ways, but also more sinical and bitter! I think the main thing is to learn by your mistakes, believe in yourself and don't let anyone hurt you in the future. Easier said than done though! Good luck for the future and keep smiling!!

Indeed, We go through such bollocks so that when we are older, we can give advice to others from personal experiance. If you've had alot of ****, chances are you are going to do something amazing. We also go thru it just to experiance it and discover who we are. Read, Conversations With God by Neale Donald Walsh. It's a great book that helps you to feel much better about the bad things, Although you sound as tho' u'll be fine, You still have your humour! Xx

You are right. I don't mind the bad stuff because it makes you apprecaite the good stuff more. Believe me, I have had more than my fair share of pain in life but everything happens for a reason and you wouldn't be where you are today had things not happened in life that were not the way you wanted them to. It will all pan out and get better in the end.

I disagree with that statement. Some people get diseases that don't kill them, but it definately leaves them permanently disabled.
As an example demenia. I'm adding this example cause someone might say that even if the physical body is damaged they gained mental strength from fighting the disease. But this particular disease affects the mind and doesn't kill you, and fighting it doesn't make you stronger.

I broke up with my boyfriend and girlfriend. Even though I'm still very much in love with them, their treatment of me was, at times, cold, heartless, and without remorse. Though they are still together, I can't even deal with being around them anymore.
Did it make me stronger? I don't know. Once I am completely free of them, emotionally, perhaps. Just the fact I haven't blown my brains out is a plus.
As with all incidents in life, they can make you stronger or weaker. Your response to events is the controlling factor. You are the only one who can affect that. No one else.

Some people might consider that these things really only make you more conceited.
It is possible that if you were to be able to see what these things have done from an outsiders viewpoint you would not like the result.
