What would you say and what text or reference would you cite to prove me wrong?

I may have been too quick with my question. I am curious to find out how people define God and in order to get that conversation i took the stance of basically "what if a man were to stand before even as he did in Jesus' day and say 'I AM GOD,' " how would you prove him wrong?

revelations also talks of beasts with multiple heads and eyes and horns and it is more likely that this apacolypse was written to give hope to the jewish people during an oppressive time. many biblical scholars dismiss the idea that revelations will someday take place. besides, give me the reference that says God won't announce that He is God at the time of the second coming, that's what I asked for originally.

so you dismiss the religious writings of ALL religions? or just the bible? if you dismiss the writings of ALL religions then you need to validate everything you beieve about god some other way. even the name you call "him" comes from one of these books. in fact your definition of god comes from these books and from the people who teach from these books. if you can't trust any of them then you certainly cannot tell me that I am NOT God. and Jesus did say he was God. John 18:5-8 jesus says "I AM" which was a direct quote from God to Moses when He said to call Him "I AM." (exd. 3:14) this is why everyone fell down before jesus.

the best are those of you who say that you wouldn't be bothered with an attempt to prove anything. why even respond to my question? TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK GOD IS AND WHY I CANNOT POSSIBLY BE EXACTLY THAT!

Check other sources than the bible on what Jesus supposedly said? That makes no sense because nonchristians wouldn't care and christians would ridicule it if it contradicted their beliefs and say it was heresy. No, when it comes to Jesus I look at the Bible. MY point that I am (trust me) NOT desperately trying to make, is simply this: How can you know if something is true or not? Specifically, how, if you do not know WHAT GOD is, can you know that I am not GOD?

How can I prove you wrong? This is essentially what is wrong with a faith-based system. You can go around screaming that God is real until your lungs cave in and your face turns blue, but it won't make a lick of difference unless you or others have faith. However, the irony of faith is that contrary to what I just said, you CAN'T go around claiming you are God in human form because it is blasphemous. What if God did come down to Earth and took the form of a human? How would we know? Faith? Haha, that really seemed to work out for Jesus. Anyways, if you told me you were God, I'd probably beat the SHlT out of you and say, "That's for life!"

Jesus never said "I am GOD!" In fact, he told people to not worship him as God because he wasn't the Lord...yeah, someone must have messed up the story along the way.

Also, God did not write the Bible, men did. Using an old book, written by men to disprove God isn't the way to go. God still exists without Christianity and organized religion in general.

The Bible can be interpreted many different ways....that's the problem with it. I went to a Christian school most of my life, I should know. Most scholars will tell you that he never said he was God...check sources other then one single Bible. Also, you said "Jesus" so I, of course, am talking about the Christian Bible since you mentioned the main Christian figure...

Also, God's name doesn't matter, call him "Bob" for all I care. The name God is the most commonly used one, by several different religions, like you said. I choose to use that one because it's convenient, people know who I'm talking about, and I doubt he cares...it's just a name.

I don't belong to any organized religion, I'm not a Christian and I don't need to be to have a faith in some form of a higher power.

I still fail to see the point you are trying desperately to make.

Oh ok I got it! You're not God because your some bored person typing in an internet forum while eating cheerios...that was easy.

I think your trying to say "what if I said I was a prophet, or messenger of God, would you believe me?"

Athiests have made that point several times and at least that made sense.

I would say you a god (not THE GOD) Everyone is a god. The difference is that some people actually know they are a god; and can do things other people find incredible if not impossible to believe.

Jesus told us that in John 10:34-39

Well My God is in heaven with Jesus right now. My God is a Spirit. Also I will know God when I see him in heaven for thats the only time I will see him.

Well, Revelations says the next coming will not announce himself as God, the true followers will recognize Him without it.

So I would just list you as another "next coming" knucklehead

On the day of your death, you would be proven wrong.

Yes, Jesus died on the cross, but he did something you will never be able to do. Raise yourself from the dead.

So the original answer stands.
