After BCG, a white bleb is raised, which subsides in a few minutes. There is no fever. The normal reaction is Papule formation-- 2 to 3 weeks. Vesicle, then Pustule-- 4 to 5 weeks.
In 8 to 12 weeks, there is a scab, then scar.
If a person is suffering from TB or has already had BCG vaccination, he will have an accelerated reaction, with papule formation in 2 to 3 days. The whole reaction will be completed in 10 to 12 days. In this way, BCG is used for the diagnosis as well as prevention of TB.
