I'll provide a URL here you can access that will not only give you dimensions for packages but will also provide a variety of other restrictions. There are certain items that are banned for a number of different reasons. I sent a number of packages to my brother in Afghanistan prior to his retirment earlier this year using this information.

Everything takes the same amount of time to get there for a variety of reasons. One, mail to military stations goes through several check points before reaching its destination, the main one being in New York, I believe. Second, you never know how its going to be shipped, when I was in GTMO it took two weeks to two months for mail to get to and from the island because you never knew if it were going to be flown in or shipped in on the barge. Either way, the barge and planes only came so often. Then once its there the mail room has to sort it, which usually take them forever, and once its sorted, the mail room usually only has like a two hour window on certain days of the week when you can pick up your mail, so you might miss it! I don't think there's a dimension or weight limit either. You should have seen some of the crazy things some of the guys had shipped down there, to include scooters and pools. No kidding. You might want to double check on that though because it might be different according to unit and for Iraq. Also, the person you're sending it to might be sleeping in a tent and be on the go a lot, so they might not have room for it. Have fun sending stuff though, I can promise it will be cherished!

dimensions and weight depent on what you want to pay. but if it will fit in a mailbag ( ie an suv tuffbox from walmart, or a footlocker) and weighs less than 50 lbs you will not max out the scales for either
