I know how you feel. I did the same thing. But I'm glad I did it. I was dreading the day my mom made my appointment. The dentists will help you calm your fears. My dentist is helping me have a more beautiful smile, and yours will do the same for you too. It will help you be more healthy if you have a healthy mouth. Be brave and good luck!

PS - The cleaning part is a little tough to handle, but just be brave and get through it. You won't regret it.

It can be very painful when they go to clean your teeth. If it gets real uncomfortable they will numb your mouth and they may require for you to come back so they can finish cleaning if you have a lot of build-up or cavities. I wouldn't suggest waiting so long, I did the same thing and I really do live to regret it due to the damage done to my teeth from not getting them cleaned every 6mo. Good Luck.

Just be glad you're going at all!

I work at the dentist's office and we once had a patient come in who said she only comes to the dentist when she's in pain. She hadn't come in so long that she CAUSED the pain from dentist neglect! lol, She had to have the tooth extracted in the end.

Once you go this time, definitely keep going regularly every 6 months. You DEFINITELY won't regret that!

Dood i rather have a bit of pain for the moment than teeth that look like Austin Powers!

Go get ur chompers looked at, they might need work since you havent gone in a long time, try to go every 6 months that way you wont need to feel pain when you visit your dentist! Good luck, Jaws!

No. It could be painful in the short term if you need to have work done, but long term, you can still chew your own food. Go at least once a year from now on. Floss and brush regularly.

Likely not live to regret it .. :-) if you've brush your teeth regularly you should be ok with a cleaning. they will probably get pictures to look for cavities..

I used to pull that as well, it had been 7 years before I started seeing one every six months..

Better late than never. If there's work to be done, then it's better to catch it now than years down the road when it becomes a seriously painful issue. Good luck!

I gotta go with michaelyo... on this one, it really is better for you to get one years later than to never have one again, as long as you have taken care of your teeth there is nothing to be worried about.
