Yes I do. The reason I do is to show the person/people that I'm talking to that they are dealing with a confident and self-assured person.

Personally I rarely do. I have intimacy issues from the beginning. Ive done lots of work on it and I communicate well and that is FINE. So my style is little eye contact because I can only do the best I can and I will never condemn someone for avoiding it. I will NOT speak w/someone in dark sunglasses. I ask to have them removed or I move on.

In traditional American and European cultures when you make eye contact while speaking or being spoke to it denotes that you are attentive and respectful. But careful, other cultures believe that the eyes are the gateways to our souls and that looking someone directly in the eye is not only rude but you may be trying to steal their soul. Ever heard that term "giving someone the evil eye". Be mindful of this with some latin cultures. It is however polite to look at the general direction of their face but not directly or concentratedly at their eyes.

Yes, Unless I'm trying to think of what i'm trying to say then I look away, But if I know of what i'm saying exactly then I may keep eye contact. But there are so me Americans who are just shy and who just don't like to make eye contact that doesn't mean there not telling the truth. It just means they don't like to make eye contact.

It depends on the situation. If its an engaging conversation, yes. However, eye contact at the wrong moment could be misconstrued as flirtatious.

Yes, and it is hard for me because I can be terribly shy. But I do it as a sign of respect. But when people speak, I analyze their facial expressions, watch their eye movements, and body movement. Bad habit, but I can usually tell if they are lying.

Depends who are you talking to and what you are talking about. If you are being yelled at the best thing to do is to look down. If you are talking to a loved one, than yes, look at them when they're talking.
