That depends. in UK, you have to stay 14 years legally and illegally mixed in order to apply for Leave to Remain Indefinite. But if you have entered with no visa, then it depends on why you came here.

The sooner this country (UK) wakes up and smells the coffee more and more illegal Immigrants will move into the UK. They have no "right of abode".illegal Immigrants remain just that......illegal!!! Once the authorities catch up with the said "illegal" they are deported. I feel sorry for the hard working Brits who have paid all their taxes into this country hoping for a future for when they retire. But instead this Government has come along and give it all to the illegal immigrants, so when the Brits retire the money pot will be empty and nothing for us. I could go on and on, but enough has been said.

Once illegal always illegal. I have just finished reading the newspaper and I am stunned at the amount of crimes committed by illegal immigrants. Ship them all back from whence they came and stop making excuses for them. Enough is enough! Merry Christmas.xx

Never, in the US. What country are you discussing? France used to say after 10 years, but it is 'never' there, too, now. Why should people who come illegally have a right to be here?

Quite possibly never, length of stay is not the determining factor when applying to stay permanently.
I new a guy form eastern europe that has been here 15 years, had an english girlfriend and 2 kids. When the authorities caught up with him he was shipped home, because he entered illegally. nothing could be done except appeal.
