The Lion King
I absolutely love the Disney movie and seeing it come to life on Broadway was absolutely amazing. The actors are so involved with the audience and the costumes are done with such beautiful creativity. There's actually a scene with dancers immitating grass and it looks so real. I had goosebumps the whole show.

Guys and Dolls is pure Broadway gold. It has a great book based on Damon Runyan's New York of the fifties, memorable (and likeable) characters: Nathan Detroit, Sky Masterson, Miss Adelaide, Big Julie From Chicago, Nicely Nicely, and the hottest jazzy score ever made. The best scene is the crap game set in the New York City sewers. The eleven o'clock number "Sit Down Your Rockin the Boat" blows the doors off of the theatre and sends crowds out into the street humming. A good production of this at any level is huge fun, both for the audience, and for the actors.

I really liked Jersey Boys. It captures the Four Seasons music, but on top of that, the script is a story of the Four Seasons, and it is a gripping story by itself. So you have a great story, and music that at least for those 40+ will have heard. I'm not a big fan of the Four Seasons, but I was really a fan of this show. Wicked is up there too...extremely well written script.

Phantom of the Opera because it's a classic. I love the music and the lyrics of all the songs. The plot is wonderful and entertaining, and the costumes are also gorgeus. My favorite song from the musical is "Masquerade".
I heart Phantom of the Opera.
I also looooooooooove Chicago.

Phantom of the Opera, by far. It's both a love story and a tragedy, and the scenery, costumes and music are wonderful. I've seen it three times, even though I'm nowhere near New York or London, and even the traveling companies handle it magnificently.

I have to say that Phantom of the Opera is one of the best musicals out there; but I also like Bye Bye Birdie. It was cute, and alot of fun to put on. (I was Mrs. Macafee) and of course Damn Yankees; it's almost raunchy for the time it was put out. Especially with Lola. (whom I played). But Cats is really awesome. I think anything by Andrew Lloyd Webber is pretty amazing.
one of the funniest ones though is "Avenue Q". it's a spoof of sesame street, only alot more contreversial!!! lmao!!!

Sweeney Todd, Little Shop of Horrors, and Chicago. Just LOVE the dark comedy, and the songs are fabulous: Sweeney Todd has technically amazing music, Chicago has such great jazz songs, and Little Shop just get's stuck in your head!
Company and Light in the Piazza are also high up there for me.

Guys and Dolls. The score is as fresh and as witty as it was 50 years ago, and so is the book. The four main characters -- Sky, Adelaide, Sarah and Nathan -- are equals and all four great roles for performers.

Jesus Christ Superstar. Because the message and music is just as powerful today as it was when first done.
