I want to be able to give the men/ ladies time to start training before my event date?....Any ideas? I will be advertising through placemats, tent cards, flyers, newspaper and radio....

Middle of Januar i would start advertising a little ... not too much
and then every 30 days i would put out a lil more advertising to help spread the word and continue the attn on your project

then at the beginning of MARCH i would MAJOR advertise ...

this may cost a lil more in advertising but its better to spend more and have a great event then to have a bomb

and then once the first grioup of advertising is out there you can see what people think and get a lil feedback to know what to do in your next round to help get more attn on your project

keep notes ....

maybe pretend you arent the one putting it on and ask strangers if they have heard of the event and where to get info or what they think

it may not be positive feedback but it may help with more ideas to make this another successful event

GOOD LUCK!

People competing in a fitness competition will want at least 15 weeks to prepare for the show. People who are attending obviously need less notice. The best advertising is word-of-mouth, and you'll want to start that now. By putting a committee together, more people will know of the event through you and then through the committee members.

No time like the present! You can start passing the word around now, increasing the frequency of your advertisements as the event approaches. Perhaps start with places where people who see the ads might need more time to prepare (ie. restaurants, movie theatres, grocery store, etc) and leave gyms and fitness clubs until last, where the people who see the ads will need the least time to prepare.

You need to have your team ready to go by the first week in January. You need 120 days to get the whole show on the road and have meetings every 2 weeks during the first 60 days, and weekly thereafter, until you big day. Delegate to those that are as committed as you are and make sure that they bring another helper along too.

Wishing you great success in your event!
