I would agree they know enough, word for word. But does that constitute belief or non belief? What they do with the Bible and their "Watchtowers" anyone can get reading any magazine, even Cosmo. And for the record, an answer on here earlier claimed most Christians ignore the Last Supper Jesus had with his Diciples...we apprently do not "celebrate" it. Death is not a celebration, but a mourning. Guess I've never been to a Jehovah funeral...now I am interested to see how they treat their dying. We do acknowledge and give heavy thought to Good Friday, and the death on the Cross. Hence, why Christianity is alive today, and why during church services we take Communion a few times per month (depends on ur church and Pastor or Priest). Looks like the Jehovah's don't have all the answers.

To respond to the latest poster, you are like a liberal. You only understood the part you WANTED to understand....

It was a Jehovah who claimed Christians do not celebrate or commemorate the one day Jesus asked his followers to....and that is completely false. Like i stated, if Jehovah's knew as much as they like to think they do, they would creak open those minds a little and learn about religious faiths outside themselves.

We do commemorate the death of Christ, Good Friday is a Christian holiday....you should know that. We have a week-long celebration, and it is not the "drunk fest" you again, like to interpret it to be. So, Mr. Knowitall, just what what served at Jesus' last supper, on the night before he was betrayed?

Communion is our way of celebrating Christ and giving thanks for Him.

Go educate yourself. That was the point to my question....to answer yours.

What good is "knowing everything" if their truth is a lie? It is worthless.

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

I don't think any of us claim to know "everything" about the bible or other religions but we certainly are very serious about Bible study and we are always interested in hearing about others' beliefs.

Our publications are Bible study aids but in no way are meant to substitute reading the Bible on its own. They are written to be read ALONGSIDE your Bible (whichever translation you are most comfortable with) and, when reading them, you should check the scriptures cited to be sure of what you are reading in the publicaton.

The reason the memorial of Jesus' death is to be celebrated is because of what his death MEANS for you and I. The scriptures describe death as an enemy and we are NOT happy when we lose loved ones. We are human, just like you and loss is VERY painful. We take great comfort in the scriptures and the resurrection hope (John 5:28, 29) is very dear to us.

Definitely there are many individuals out there that are not Jehovah's Witnesses that realize the importance of Jesus' death. We do acknowledge that.

I'm not sure what you are getting at.

Jesus said to celebrate or commemorate his death.

This is not a feast, or a drunken party, It is a very solemn occation, but a joyous one at the same time.

Yes we mourn the death of our love ones, on the other hand we know they are in the memory of the greatest individual in the universe, Jehovah God.

Even the bible tells us not to mourn as those who do not have hope.

I know alot about 'other' religions, not because I've studied them, but because I've talked to many members of their faith, and have found them lacking in scriptural knowlegde.

The expression 'my faith' or 'I believe' is quite literal with most people.

They believe not because the bible teaches it, but because of a 'heart felt' emotional feeling.

It's not because we don't have all the answers, it's because we adhere to what the bible says, that people reject our teachings.

When Jesus rejected the traditions of the jews, then the jewish leaders started planning his death.

If you are baseing your "knowledge" about Jehovah's Witnesses on this forum, then you aren't getting the whole truth, because there is not enough time to review all the scriptures that deal with a specific subject of thought.

To honestly know what Jehovah's Witnesses teach, request a bible study from them and see for yourself if what they believe is bible based or not.

"Jehovah" is the personal name of Almighty God, the Sovereign of the Universe, the Creator. "Jehovah" translates the Hebrew Tetragrammaton into English, and is to be used with reverence and respect.

It is a terrible insult and blasphemy against God to misuse the personal name of the Almighty as a reference to any human. An adherent among Jehovah's Witnesses is most certainly not "a Jehovah" but rather is "a Witness".

(Deuteronomy 6:4) Jehovah our God is one Jehovah

Sadly, such disrespect for the Heavenly Father and hatred for His people should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:

(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.

(Luke 6:22) Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.

(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

It seems signficant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

It's really their bible they know everything about. The NWT (New World Translation). There is not a Christian denomination in the world apart from Jehovah Witness that accepts this translation as anything but blasphemy. Yet to them it's the inspired word of Charles Taze Russel and Josheph B. Rutherford, I mean God. It is mostly from Charles Taze Russel though through his Scriptures and Studies, which was later built upon by Joseph B. Rutherford. They also have predicted armageddon 5 or 6 times and failed. They are very well trained apologetically through their Kingdom Halls, which is a local church.

You could plug any religion/faith into that question and it would apply.

Why do Baptists think they know everything about the Bible AND other religions?
Why do Fundamentalists think they know everything about the Bible AND other religions?
Why do (your religion here) think they know everything about the Bible AND other religions?

See it works no matter what christian faith you plug in...

Stop singling out the religion that you find most confusing or annoying and get on with your life.
Peace

Because all they read is their approved literature, try and point something out to one of them from some other source that refutes their belief and they won't even look at it.
