I believe true, correct, and right can be interchanged. Experience helps tell us when things are true. But I rely on the Word of God to help me. Christians have the resource of the Holy Spirit in us to help. He will bring a scripture to our remembrance, many times.

The word "true" can also be used in building. If a wall is "true to plumb" then when a plumb line is hung next to a wall, if the wall matches up from top to bottom with the external standard of the effect of gravity on a weight dangling from a string then the wall has been erected at the "true perpendicular" from the earth.
It's the same with other applications of the word true. Does a statement match up at all points with objective and unbiased facts or does it deviate from these standards?

It depends on what you are talking about.
If mathematics you would depend on a proof to determine what was true. This is called "a priori" knowledge.
In science you would depend on the verification process called the scientific method to determine what is most likely to be true. This is called "a posteriori" knowledge.
In religions there is no method of determining what is true. This is the reason why we have many religions that all claim to be true but are in conflict with each other over beliefs. Beliefs cannot be proven or verified. Consequently there is no one true religion, they are all equally unprovable. Whether people think religions are true or not depends on whether they grew up in the culture that accepted that religion as the norm or not. People who are well educated or have traveled the world know this but people who are ignorant seldom learn the limits of their beliefs.

The concept of "truth" is a distraction that tends to keep you from perceiving reality accurately.
Very few statements are 100% true/correct/right. Most statements people make fall into the category of "more probable than not" at best.

This is more a philosophy question than a religion & spirituality question.
Generally: a concept is true when it corresponds to the objective state of affairs outside the mind of the thinker.
We can't know anything is true with absolute certainty. We can be more or less certain depending on whether our careful observation of reality lends support to our concept.

You know, we all have personal feelings and opinions. When we hear something that sparks a certain feeling within ourselves, we seem to know it's a "truth".
We also have built in "BS" meters. And when we hear something that we instinctively feel is not a truth we can live with, we also have a particular feeling within ourselves and we know it is a "non truth".
Learn to trust your own instincts. We have enough of a grounding in ourselves and what is right or wrong to know when something rings true and when it rings the "BS" meter. We have enough common sense (at least most of us do) to know truth from BS. Give yourself some credit to know when the right things come along.

Truth is an subjective matter. What seems true to me, might not be true to you.
Truth and being correct can be two different things: "1 + 1 = 2 " is correct and "subtracting and adding up numbers is mathematics" could be the truth. To me the truth is that Africa is a wonderful continent, while other see it differently. To my it is a fact that Bush is a moron, while other praise the ground he walks on.

Only statements are 'true'.
"Truth" is nothing more than how well and/or whether or not a statement corresponds with the reality it represents.
Statement: Penguins are birds.
The statement is true.
Statement: Therefore, penguins can fly.
The statement is false... we know penguins are flightless birds.
Subjective statements, however, are harder to discern.
The Christian God exists.
(Well, I know that this is false... but plenty of people will assert that it is true. However, they have no evidence for this claim.)

there is nothing that can prove it wrong. or there is nothing to prove it false. so if i were to walk up to you and say i have boobes and a female sex organ there for i am a woman, you would automatically say that i spoke the truth. but what i didnt tell you is htat i was not born a female i was born a male then it would not be true. if you can prove with out a doubt that there is nothing to prove you false then it would be a truth.

two ways...the holy spirit ministering to that truth or scripture. the problem with today's society is that they do not believe in a truth, they believe that they make their own. If i go a restraunt and Order bowl of soup and get water i don't care how hard i believe that water will not be soup...no matter how hard you believe that god is not real and his son did not die for the sins of the world its still absolute truth
