I just want to say so many of these people have not researched the band it has the highest success rate than other surgeries less than a 1% failure yes there is always risks with surgery as for me I'm glad I took that risk Ive been banded for two weeks now and have lost 30 pounds two sizes with my pants and I feel great no pain right now at all. The biggest part of the pain is the co2 they pump in your body so they can see and get around inside you the gas stays for a few days and can be very uncomfortable. but so worth it after its gone. My surgery was not covered by my Ins. so I went to this great doctor in Mexico who has done over 1,000 bands they have a great support group and could not ask for a better group of doctors that care. for $8200.00 its the best money I have ever spent I'm on my way to a better life. I would think twice before listening to all the other comments that you will hear you know your struggles and your goals in life go for them. email me if you need more info on that Doctor....

I looked into all the different types of surgery before deciding to have Rue En Y. I'm so thrilled with the results. I chose NOT to have any "parts" put in me because alot can go wrong, maybe the body would reject, and also the studies showed that alot of people did have problems following that lap band.
My girlfriend had it done, and she had to chew and chew and chew her food, and God help her if she forgot, and ate the "Old Way", because the food would get stuck on top of the band, and without digestive juices there, it was pain full to have to wait for a drink to make it go down. Can you imagine a big piece of meat being stuck there? You'd have to have a doctor go in and fish it out.
Please look into other alternatives, surgery wise. For me, this was the best choice, no complications, no regrets, best thing I ever did.. good luck.

My exhusbands wife stepmother to my 20 yr old daughter had it done on Oct. 12. She died from compliactions on Oct 16th. I know the risks are small but loosing weight is not worth dying for.
