You can read articles on the English-language version of the wikipedia online encyclopedia. You can also translate the web-page for an article into your own language using the google translator. The 2nd link below is for an article on 'fruit' in English in wikipedia. The 3rd link is to the same article translated into Spanish (you can change this to your own language).

The wikipedia article on 'english grammar' has a good list of websites at the end, including a link to an online 'grammar checker' for many languages.

There is a program called 'supermemo' that is good for learning vocabulary. It has some sets of questions for learning English and you can enter your own sets of questions as text-files, such as :-

Q: Dog (English)
A: Perro (Spanish)
etc.

It tests you often (every day or two) on words that you don't know very well and less often (every week or two) on words that you don't know well. In this way, it teaches you the most vocabulary in very little time.

Supermemo98 is free (see last link below).

A decade ago to learn English, you had to attend costly English classes or purchase course material like tapes and books. Now you can learn English for free from the comfort of your home using the Internet. The BBC and the British Council offer a number of on line courses, which teach written and spoken English. You can also improve your English by watching television programs and reading English newspapers. For more information, visit http://tinyurl.com/qnzpt

stay away from web sites to learn english, you might want to consider enrolling in your local community college's English as a Second Language class. Other wise I would search the web for CD's that you can use
