Depends on 2 factors:
1. Her face shape and hair type.
Roundish face needs long hair to make the head look less roundish and vice versa. E.g: for bushy hair it just wouldn't work to have it short on a round shaped face. It will look puffy.
2. Her physical activity and hygiene practises.
It's easier to catch lice and also harder to dispose of them with long hair. Also, long hair is very very useful to keep a persom warm (somewhat) at a cool place but at a hot weather, it's a nuisance without it being tied up.
In conclusion, a girl should have her hair to suit the way she want it.

I had very long hair and I have short hair. My boyfriend loves my hair short.
It depends mostly on your face shape and ability to care and style the hair.
I love short hair on most girls. Too many have long hair, there come a point where it is boring.

A girl should wear her hair however SHE wants to wear it. Long or short, I'm sure it will be fab! Don't go by what other people think you should do with YOUR hair or your body. Do what YOU want and be happy. If you go short and don't like it....it is hair after all and it will grow back.

It depends on the woman. Long hair is great if you have the time to manage it. In today's rush society it is hard to find the amount of time to really care for it. Also it is usually easier for a pregnant woman to have it short. Young women usually look better in long hair.

Hi, for girls the hair style is the basic choice of her own, but it depends a lot on your appearance,Ur style of living, and Ur circle. Normally long hair is liked by all, But if Ur outlook suits u also can go for a short hair, If your features are sharp enough / If ur complexion is fair/ if ur wearing salwar suits/if Ur homely then the long hair will suit u the best.
I hope u will urself find a better answer for urself.
THANKS

Hi, and well done for asking this not so obvious question:
I will try to give you a detailed answer based on what I know as a stylist:
-As a general rule, Girls should have their hair long for the same reason Guys should have theirs short.
1. MALE / FEMALE PHYSIOGNOMY:
Think in terms of simple Geometry, women tend to have a more oval / round face with soft features and little appearing bone structure whereas men are more prone to having a square and angular face with a larger jaw...
Meanwhile, short hair is usually straight looking, thus perfect to underline a square face, and long hair which tends to curl, make waves and other round shapes is better with an oval face. It is hence a matter of harmony for the human eye. Matching the opposites results in a more or less odd looking face with contradictory shapes (think about the mullet which is always being mocked today).
Remember that the human brain has a dedicated function for recognizing and memorizing human faces (this is why we tend to put human faces everywhere on objects and animals -cartoons like "Tom and Jerry", movie "cars", etc) and is thus very judgemental when it comes down to someone's face.
EXAMPLES: Let's take 2 celebrities and see if this is verfied:
- Jessica Simpson: Picture the girl with a very short hairdo: her face would look much too round and "naked" without the curls and the long hair. Her current hairdo is an excellent choice in relation to her face; It emphasises her round features to the point of making her face shapes merge with her hair.
- Ed Harris: Imagine this square faced guy wearing long, blond, curly hair... this would make him look downright ridiculous ! the contrast between his angular face and the soft / wavy aspect of such a haircut would be insulting for your eye. He needs a very short / almost shaved haircut that is as straightforward as his face.
2. SOCIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Wearing short hair (I mean short like a boyscout, not at all shoulder length which is in the long or medium long category) is a tough social stance for a woman today; you can read it in other answers, some are already talking about homosexuality, etc.
Whether we like it or not, a girl sporting short hair in our western society might encounter rejection due to the fact that she is trespassing the gender definitions. This is definitely to be considered for dating, socializing and above all employment and school.
3. WORD OF CAUTION:
These are generally accepted guidelines in the hairstyle industry but they are not absolute principles; girls with short hair can look very good and attractive (Halle Berry in James Bond), but it will take them an extra amount of taste, styling, daily care and caution to do so; remember that it is easy to cut everything, but if it looks bad afterwards, it can take a few years to grow one's hair back down to the waist for instance...
If it is a practical problem of having hair falling in front of one's face, etc, I strongly recommend the ponytail, or shoulder length cut; these are cute, and they never go out of style while being sporty and clean.
I hope this helps you a little bit,
Best Regards

It depends on the way the cut looks on you. Alson, and most important I think, is the time you are willing to put into it. Long hair is beautiful, but if you have it it needs taken care of. Short hair can also take a lot of time to fix. It depends on you and your lifestlye.

i think a woman should have whatever length of hair SHE prefers. i've read most of the answers for your question and frankly i'm disgusted that in 2006...almost 2007...we are still blinded by "gender roles" and stereotypes. why is it that men must have short hair and women must have long hair? it has nooothing to do with genderization of face structure because face structure does not depend on whether your male or female - it depends on how your bone structure is. i've seen both soft and strong jawlines on women as i've also seen on men. also, it is absolutely ridiculous to call someone "butch" and to question their sexuality based on the length of their hair. look at celebrities and models for instance; halle berry, keira knightley, sharon stone, celine dion, hilary swank, cate blanchett...the list goes on and on - these women may or may not be gay - the fact though is that they are beautiful just the way they are - some of them even look BETTER with short hair. so in the end it comes down to personal preference. and "personally" i think any woman who has the guts to cut off all her hair and sport a short do is not only confident in herself and her looks but is funky/classy (depending on her cut) and quite the risk taker.

Depends on the girl's physical and facial appearance ... there aren't any set rules, but some hair styles are better suited to some individuals than to others.
