The Book of Mormon is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is further proof that He exists and goes quite nicely with the KJV Bible. It is used by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a.k.a. the Mormons.

In reverse order, I will answer your questions:

Who is it for- The Book of Mormon is for anyone seeking to learn the true gospel and would like to be the most righteous person they can be.

Why do we have it- As I mentioned, the Book of Mormon is further revelation written hundreds of years ago that was written by the hands of several ancient prophets. These prophets were inspired by God to help us in current times. The Book of Mormon is full of many spiritual thoughts and verses that are very helpful in times of despair.

What's it about?- The Book of Mormon is from ancient prophets. It is about the dealings of ancient people, and is full of revelations and prophecies that were given hundreds of years ago, often more applicable today than when it was written.

Where did it come from? - As I said, it was written by lots of ancient prophets. It was later abridged by Mormon. When his son (Moroni) was the last righteous person living, he buried the gold plates on the Hill Cumorah in New York. In 1819, a 14-year old boy named Joseph Smith was searching for a religion and ran across James 1:5 (If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him). He went in the woods to pray and was told that no religions were true, and that he would have to bring God's religion into the earth. Later, the Angel Moroni appeared to him, and told him where the Gold Plates (which would become the Book of Mormon) were buried. He went and saw them every year for four years until he was old enough to get them. It was buried with several other artifacts, including the Urim and Thummim. Using the Urim and Thummim, Joseph Smith received help from God to translate these Gold Plates into what is now the Book of Mormon. He then published it and founded the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

I'm glad that you are interested in the Book of Mormon. I hope you will read it carefully and prayerfully as I have done. I know that it is true, and I am sure that you will find so yourself if you read it carefully, prayerfully, and with an open mind. If you have any questions about the Book of Mormon or about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, feel free to email me (tajgrayou@yahoo.com) and I will be happy to answer your questions. Hope I am helpful to you.

The book of Mormon is a series of anachronistic stories. It is allegedly set in Old Testament-New Testament times, but there are a number of things that show up there before their time:
-horses
-magnetic compass
-glass
-steel
-quotes from Shakespeare
etc.
We have it because someone wrote it. If you notice in libraries, the Bible is listed as having no author, but the Book of Mormon is listed as being written by Joseph Smith.
You asked who it is for. It is for literary scholars to look at. It follows in the literary tradition of James MacPherson and his book the Ossian Chronicles. The parallels between him and Joseph Smith are chilling - finding a book buried in the earth at age 16, the book is about an ancient civilization, etc.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a religious organization that views itself as the restoration of the original Christian church founded by Jesus through Peter and the Twelve Apostles.

Sometimes referred to as the LDS Church or the Mormon Church, the church teaches that God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith, Jr. and called him to be a prophet and to restore essential elements that were lost from Christianity between Paul's death and the First Council of Nicaea. These elements included new scriptures, the calling of Twelve Apostles as special witnesses of Christ's divinity, and the return of priesthood authority. The Church was organized by Smith and five others in Fayette, New York, on April 6, 1830, shortly after the first publication of the Book of Mormon.

The Book of Mormon, written by the Hand of Mormon upon Plates, is one of the sacred texts of the Latter Day Saint movement.

A man by the name Joseph Smith, Jr. said the book was a translation of Golden Plates he found in a hill near his home, guarded by an angel. Smith had no knowledge of ancient languages, but he said he received the translation from God through the act of looking into seer stones, or a set of crystal spectacles he said were with the plates, which were called the Urim and Thummim. During the translation, Smith obtained the affidavits of Three Witnesses and Eight Witnesses who testified they saw the plates. These affidavits are published as part of the Book of Mormon. When Smith's translation was complete, the angel Moroni took them back.

the book of mormon was supposedly discovered by Joseph Smith. He believes he was led by God to discover it there. He then founded the Moromn Church based on it. Mormons believe that when Mr. Smith died he ascended to heaven and sits at Gods right hand. Mormons believe the book of Mormon is just an addition to the bible the was written later. It is used in teaching in the mormon church, just like the bible is used in a regular church. It is for anyone who chooses to believe in mormon teaching. im not a mormon and do not believe in the teachings. i have studied the religion some though. there are many elements to this religion that are questionable in my opinion, but thats just me.

I have studied it as intense as I have the bible. Every name from Jared after Babel, also from 600 BCE.

My conclusion is the KJV Bible 1611 CE published plus 303 years to 1914 CE is an excepted translation by law of God and man, for the world in the last days between Rev.12:3,4,6-11,12 when Satan has a short time to Rev.20:1-6,12,13 [ No Satan for 1000 years ];
UNTIL THE PROPHECY OF THIS BOOK IS MADE KNOWN TO MAJORITY Rev.7:9-17;
Tribulations is knowing what is going on with God and Christ and facing Matt.10:34-36;
2Tim.3:1-7; people that are of this present world that is coming to an end while Satan has a short time in the 8th facing Michael of Jude 9; Dan.12:1-13; in Rev.12:7-12;
Jesus ascended to heaven to wait for Michael to get his Job done Acts 2:27-35; Matt.22:42-44; Heb.1:1-13 [ enemies to be on footstool earth ]; Rom.16:20; Satan to be under feet of the raised up John 6:39,40,44; 14:3; A PLACE IS PREPARED WHEN SATAH AND UNHOLY ANGELS ARE DOWN.

Book of Mormon 1830 plus 303 years is 2133 CE. Will Jesus come before this date?
The missing books of the KJV [ used by Catholic ], have been used to give definitions and extra contents. But why would God send new prophets, when blind eyes are not seeing that the world needs the meaning of the prophecy from the book published in 1611 CE. WHERE IS THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE CLEAR INSIGHT TO THE PROPHECY FULFILLING IN OUT DAY AND TIME?
Babylon Empire #3 has same as world history figures of the bible math at 589 before Christ in Roman Empire #6.
Moses from 1110, O.T. Books done 443 before Christ.
Mormon book 600 BCE to 421 BCE to 1823 CE and published 1830 CE.
They were supposed to have left out in the year 600 before Christ. Nothing there.

KJV BIble published 1611 CE is 2217 after Babylon Empire #3, 2520 is marked year for Satan.
THE PROMISED LAND WAS DESOLATE 606 BEFORE CHRIST AND EMPIRE #7 WILL END 2520 YEARS FROM THE YEAR OF DESOLATION OF THE PROMISED LAND AN NO MORE KINGS. SATAN AND UNHOLY ANGELS WILL HAVE A SHORT TIME IN 8TH.

THERE WILL BE NO KING UNTIL THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST JESUS AS KING

The book of Mormons was written by a guy named Smith, (who later thought "he" was a god)...

He led his people to Salt lake City, (he had a vision of an eagle sitting on a stump in the middle of a lake with a snake in its mouth, and followed his dream until he came to the great salt lake, and saw it happen).

Then, he put some verses of the bible into "his version" of a bible, and tried to get it to "appear" like it was another bible...but, its only a book... No bible as "per se"...

I wish you well..

Jesse
