To all you people out there who do not believe in Heaven or Hell.?

Just curious, what happens then to you when you die? Yes your body will get buried 6 feet under, but where do you think your soul will go? And do not tell me you do not have a soul, because if you did not have a soul you would not even be here and you would not even be here. Like my sister said, we are spiritual beings in a bit of flesh. How true. So just curious where do you think you are going(spirit being the real you) when you cark it. If you say it will go no where, then what you are saying is that you cease to exist, Gee that sounds very excieting, not. So if you cease to exist, that sounds like fun.. Then what is the point of living if you have nothing to live for, like Jesus, Heaven and the Lord God almighty.? If you think this world is all you have, and you think there is nothing beyond this life, what keeps you going in this dead world full of spiritually dead people?

You're so afraid of it that you subscribe to myth to make yourself feel better about what could possibly await you beyond the grave. It's the reason why religion was invented, skippy.

My circulatory, respiratory, and other bodily systems. This world isn't dead. (What are you, a goth?) It's very much alive. I'll use the Christian buzz phrase... LOOK AROUND YOU!! There's trees, birds, people, animals, etc. Why not enjoy to the fullest the only life we know for a fact that we have?

You raise good points here and yes I am indeed a Christian and I gotta say I often wonder how anyone can even deny that there is a creator.

And I don't wanna hear that garbage about how Big Bang and Evolution brought us here cause we all know that Cars cannot build themselves, Houses cannot build themselves, Computers cannot build themselves, they all need Intellegent designers.

Yes I am a Christian so I believe in Judeo-Christian doctrine but I find stories on how we got hear from religions I disagree with a lot more believable than Evolution theory.

For instance the Japanese Shinto religion has a story on gods creating Japan then the rest of the world, now I believe that God had all land on the Earth combined as a Super Continent but God decided to break the Continents apart in order to scatter the Populations of the world so henceforth I do not believe Japan was 1st created before the rest of the world was.

But I find the Shinto story a lot easier to swallow than the Evolution theory.

I do not believe in a spirit. I believe I exist solely as a product of nature.

Surely you realize that the brain is ultimately responsible for you being you. We could examine thousands of documented accounts of people with head trauma that supports that the personality of a human is often completely changed by such trauma.


You must be a very depressed and lonely person if you require a God to be happy, as well as to try to make other people happy. I do not need a reward(heaven) for being happy, nor do I need a reward for wanting people around me to be happy. A simple smile and a thank you from a mortal is all I need to keep my day going.

Buddhism does not believe in a "soul", but we DO believe the MIND goes on, albeit that the concept of "mind" is minutely similar to the other concepts of "soul", which is why it's a tricky, hard-to-grab concept for those who aren't trying to understand it or are trying but can't.

We believe we are going to take rebirth in whatever realm (human, animal, heaven/hell, etc.) we've "earned" according to our karma that we've laid down throughout our life (past and present) due to the fact that our ignorance of the "reality" of things keeps us clinging to the wrong thinking and actions. Such thinking, as we go through the stages of death, is partially where we mess up, if we're angry, clinging and attached to materialistic thoughts or whatever. We believe in hell realms, and a heaven-like realm, etc,

So what we have "to live for" is to use this precious human birth we've gotten to cultivate and educate our minds to become more kind, loving, wiser and to work towards the enlightenment that transcends all the "stuff" we think brings us happiness in order to find TRUE happiness. It's a process of method and wisdom to transcend all of the things that cause suffering and to end the cycle of rebirth.

The world isn't full of "spiritually dead people" either. There are many wonderfully educated people who apply their religion (or philosophy) that they claim to follow and do wonderful amounts of good, kind things for people and the environment, otherwise things would be a whole lot "uglier" than you THINK you're seeing right now.

May you find happiness in whatever pursuits you engage.

Everyone goes the same place, because there is only one place to go. There are many names for that place, but for the sake of simplicity, I'll just call it Heaven. It is not a physical place...it is more like an astral place, because it is not on the physical plane.

After spending a certain amount of time there, I will reincarnate into another lifetime either here on earth or somewhere else.

move on, spend a little time in Gahenna (everyone does) then plan out the next incarnation, assuming I'm not finished after this run. (not likely.... but you never know, alot can happen)

but theres alot of time between here and there.

what I have trouble fathomin is people so readily beliving in an afterlife where theres such a horrid thing as an eternal hell. inconceivable.

That's the main issue, I think.

You are so concerned about where you are going to go, that you do not take the time to be concerned about who you are, what your purpose is on this earth, and you do pretty much as you please because you feel in the end you will be forgiven for any transgression you commit against the earth and it's people and will be rewarded.

So, you waste the precious resources you are given on this earth, you step all over everyone with a high and mighty attitude that you are the only person that matters cause you are "saved" and you disregard anyone else because you are going to heaven, you are saved and Jesus is all that matters.

Sorry, can't buy that. I believe our responsibility is to take care of the things that we have been given: my self, my life, the earth, all that makes up the earth and the people on it. We are here to learn to care for one other above all else, to care for what we have been given and to pass it on to our children and their children in pretty much the same condition we were give it. That is our responsibility.

And we will keep coming back, as I believe in reincarnation, and will have to deal with the mess we leave ourselves and others. So, we do have a stake in the responsibility we are given.

You want to die and go to heaven and disregard everything else because that is your ultimate goal, then fine, go, and don't come back. We don't need folks like you.

What we need are people who will take responsibility for LIFE. And who will keep coming back to make sure it is taken care of responsibly.

Hopefully the rapture comes soon so we can get rid of irresponsible people who's only concern is to die and go to heaven, so the rest of us can get on with living responsibly. We are the ones who want to come back to a world that is handled better than it has been and want to ENJOY all that life has to offer as it has been given us by the Gods.

I think that is the ultimate lesson - to enjoy responsibly what you have been given and to leave it in better condition than you found it. And those of us who feel this way come back again and again to work in this manner.

hmm have you ever heard the saying. the eyes are the door to your soul...meaning the soul is the brain.but i like to think that we do have a soul and that there is a place we go after we die. but deep down i think that when we die it would be like being knocked out you wont remember it happening you wont even no your dead bit like a switching off a light bulb.scary thought isn't it.

You rot when you die.

There is no such thing as a soul. There are no spirits. Both of those concepts were created to explain how we are sentient, before we knew about the brain.

The real me is my flesh, including my brain. It stops when I die, just as a smashed computer stops. There is nothing that survives death.

There doesn't have to be a point to living. Living, itself, is its own reward. The only purpose to your life is that which you give it yourself. What keeps me going is the wonderful experience of life, itself. And, we are all spiritually dead people, whether you realize it or not.
