I think you have to go to some class at the church. Something like a pre marriage class to make sure you are well suited for each other, which costs $$$. Which takes I think about 3mo's.
I would call your church and find out the details of this. You both are catholic right? longer time if both not catholic, someone has to be baptised catholic if that person is not already catholic.

It depends on the church you decide on...however, there is usually a set of marriage prep courses you have to take, before you even pick a date. Most Catholic Churches will require that you start your class no less than 6 months before you want to get married.

The Catholic Church usually wants an engaged couple to contact the church six months in advance of the marriage and requires a pre-marriage class.
The Church takes Marriage very seriously, it is a sacrament, and makes sure the engaged couple does too.

Be careful; the catholic cult requires marriage classes. You see, the Catholic Church is even trying to get into your bedroom, telling you what is legal in the eyes of the Nazi pope and the pedophile priests.
With love in Christ.

The priest/church will usually require a 6 month time from you talking to the priest about the ceremony and setting the date to the actual ceremony. The church will require the both of you to attend a type of seminar to help you both with your upcoming life together...

It all depends upon the parish; check with your priest. Some only hold the pre-marital counselling at specific times of the year, depending on population or need, I guess.
