Glad to hear that you quit...very proud of you....My husband is an Alcoholic and he quit drinking 8 years ago...panic attacks are going to be normal but don't let them get out of hand...go to your Doctor and let them know how you are felling ...you may need medication to calm you down...nothing wrong with it as my husband started having them and now all is well and he is still on his meds...I also take them because of certain medical conditions and going to say it ...it helps...Good Luck....

I once had a panic attack about 3 seconds into a flight to Tenerife and it was scary, all I could think of was that I wanted to get off the plane even at 35'000 ft, I pretty much just clung on to the arm rests for dear life and closed my eyes. I have suffered many of these in very public places and at home, the way I control them is to ask myself what I'm actually panicking about, take deep breaths and focus on whats making you panic, think of the likelihood that what your panicking about is going to happen, e.g. have i got cancer, am I having a heart attack are just some of the dooziez that I've panicked over. I sit back and relax, tell myself to get a grip because I know its probably indigestion or something just as daft, the majority of these happened mainly after I quit smoking. A brown paperbag can be helpful if you start to hyperventilate, but don't give in because they can take a hold of your life and you'll end up a wreck.

Go and see your doctor. I suffered from depression and panic attacks and my doctor prescribed antidepressants which helped enormously. When you feel an attack coming on try and move to a quiet place and regulate your breathing (by counting). Your doctor may send you for counselling which should help you. i found Bach's flower remedies helped when I was feeling anxious.
Well done for stopping drinking. Try and keep positive.

For a quick fix, breathe in an enclosed bag. Panic attacks are often associated with excess breathing. The carbon dioxide helps regulate that.

I found this too, the only thing that helped me was carefully thinking about what i was worried about and trying to fix it.
I used to drink a lot and kept having panic attacks because i didn't know what I had done while drunk, I was dodging creditors etc.
List the things you need to put right, as you move to make things right your panic attacks should decrease.
If not, go to your GP for some drugs

Go and see a counsellor and work out what is causing the panic attacks. Then tackle the cause and you will be in control of them.
