Men can be possessive for a number of reasons:
1. They are insanely jealous and try to control women.
2. Women can drive men this way by insessiant flirting and encouraging other men.
If a guy is number 1 - then get out of the relationship as fast as possible. You will never change him and chances are things will only get worse the longer you stay together. These types of men are bullies and control freaks.
If a guy is number 2 - then the change needs to firstly come from the female. Women that are outrageous flirts often dont realise that the possessiveness coming from the man is due to insecurity and desperation for the woman to focus her attention on him.
Hope Ive helped some! xx

You shouldn't be with someone if you want to change them, you should love them for who they are. Life is too short babe, move on, that's what I would do.
But if you really love this guy and want to be with him, then you should try talking to him about how unhappy and frustrated he is making you feel, if he cares about you only half as much as you do him then he will try to stop being so posessive. Perhaps he just needs some reassurance that you're not going to leave him?
Whatever you decide, good luck, and a very merry xmas x

I quite like a man to be a little possessive. Asserting his dominance over me. If he wasn't; it would seem like he didn't care.
Personally you are even lucky he gives a damn about you in the first place. If he's crazy possesssive he
(a) Doesn't trust you
(b) Is insecure
(c) Been cheated on in the past
(d) All of the above
Why don't you TALK to him and find out for yourself. Lack of communication in a relationship is a HUGE warning sign that things aren't meant to be.

If he is possesive then it is because you mean alot to him...... so he needs to know, but not in a way which will make him think you dont want him be very carefull how you approach it/him.... because you could make it worse! or maybe have a break just let him know it cant carry on!

My friend, I am afraid that no-one can change anyone. People change and grow as, how and when they want to. If you're un happy don't stay. To stay out of hope that you can make him change will subject you to many more years of how things are at the moment. You are wasting your time if you think you can change him, it wont happen hun.

The chap has probably had a bad "experience" with a girlfriend in the past.
If you have not given him any reason for his possessiveness, then he needs to trust you.If he cannot sort out his miss trust then you should "off hire" him.

men just feel the need to own something. Whether it be a truck, dog, or a person. You see how they have to have the remote in their hand at all times. It is just in their nature.
