President Bush has to go ask Congress for money for military hardware. THAT money comes from our taxes. That means some social programs or benefits to the general public are cut in order to use that share of money to go to military use.

Taxes of course. Last I checked, defense spending is only about 18% of the national budget at present. Hardly a burden, and totally worth it, as it is the only function in the governement that actually works as advertised. They don't cut school budgets and what not for the DoD. They really need to get rid of the social programs that have failed and burdened the public, which would effectively lower our tax base, putting more money back in to our pockets, and keep defense spending exactly where it is.

the war is the biggest scam in history....playing both ends against the middle.....this administration borrows money from the Federal reserve, which most people think that it is a part of the US gov but it's not, it is privately owned, then the taxpayer is footed the bill. the amount of interest is ridiculous.......but then, the war profiteers laugh all the way to the bank.......don't expect this to end anytime soon as just like the crack dealers, they got a good thing going.......

Part of the answer is that it is the gouverment that makes money so they can make more (to a certain point) when they need. They can also raise taxes and rent money from rich people and countries.
There is no politician that cant use extra money when they got some!

You ask a very good question.
We basically "print" the money by going into debt and we sell our bonds to people overseas, usually the Asian countries who have the money (savings) to buy them. In other words this war is being financed by China, Japan, etc.

If you work grab a check stub. See the part that reads State Income Tax WITHHELD and Federal Income Tax WITHHELD. When it doesn't go to war it pays for more schools, police, hospitals, people on welfare, etc.
