Have you heard of the Yom Kippur war in 1973, Israel vs a coalition of Arab nations....Egypt, Syria and Jordan. That was worse than the current situation.....it didn't raise a blip on the world war scenario (not that it didn't have the potention as a spark)...just relegated to the heap of regional conflicts between rump states.

When the strategic super powers square off into two camps, then come back and we'll talk world war three.

Until then, just think regional conflicts, proxy wars, sabre rattling and brinksmanship.... After the next world war, we'll be back into the stone age and you won't have to worry whether a world war occurred or not. Your first inkling that the BIG ONE has started will be when your video game or TV goes out from that initial EMP burst.

The mostly likely scenario will be an accidental launch by the Russians thinking that NATO or the US launched against them. Their aging command and control systems are the bulls in the glass shop, not the threat from NorKor or Iran.

It could happen 28 minutes from now or 28 years from now, it only takes 28 minutes from a Russian ICBM to reach continental US.

My bet is on Iran-Iraq, N. Korea-S. Korea and Japan, Venezuela-Columbia, and Pakistan-India as being the most likely to break out, and if all happened at the same time with some secret alliances, there would be an all out world war. I do not see Germany as being the provoker of any of the conflicts, to answer your question. Shortly after, I see the US, the European Union, Israel and a small handful of middle eastern countries on the opposite side of China and most of the middle eastern countries. It is tough to know where Russia will fall as they have had fairly rotten relationships with both sides over the past 50 years.

Germany will be 0-3. They have a history of starting and losing world wars.

I think it's quaint that you ask. It's more likely that no country will start the next world war. An international organization not tied to a particular country (it needn't be Al Qaida or Hamas or Islamic Jihad, or Muslim at all) is more likely. It's hard to fight back when your enemy has no address.

China. They have already started. They counterfeit our money, (act of war), and steal technology, (piracy). They plan to force Taiwan to return to their control. Or else. They plan to dominate or take over South Korea and Japan. They plan to control the entire Asian area. They plan to supplant the USA and be the next global super power. Good luck getting them to sign and abide by the Kyoto Accord.

i don't really like war but i think the next world war (if it can happen) will be in USA. They have been doing a lot of stupid things. They must be punished.

Middle East and North Korea (it has to be widespread for it to be a "world war").
