Yes you can. So many weapons were produced during WWII that many vintage standard-issue rifles can be bought for a few hundred dollars at most, usually less; these weapons are still serviceable (ie they work). You can also probably buy weapons that don't work (I think that's what you mean by decomissioned, seeing as you live in the UK), but they often cost more than a working model, since they would have had to have been specifically worked on postwar! (Not to mention the Americans buying up all these weapons probably consider it some mild form of heresy).

i'm not sure about decommissioned weapons but you can buy very good replicas in York.They have lots of shops there that sell all types of weapons.

You know if antigunners don't want you to have revolvers and pistols, youknow that they are not EVER going to let you get hold of any kind of military armament.Forget it.
