I live in Bermuda. It's a small but beautiful island in the middle of nowhere and we're thinking of move to Canada . I was born in Canada (I'm Portugese) but my boyfriend was born in Bermuda (Black Bermudian). We have a son and we're looking/thinking of moving to a quiet child friendly place with good school and lots of activity for him. Also hopiful a cycling group because my boyfriend is a cycist. He competes in road racing and mountain biking and has had a few write ups in the local paper here in Bermuda. So if any in Canada see my question please give your input.

I would move to either Ontario or British Columbia. Both have towns that offer what you're looking for and excellent biking trails. I know Ontario better, and Paris, Ontario is a small town that's consistently rated as one of Canada's prettiest. There are hundreds of miles of bike trails, great schools, lots of activities for kids, close to Lake Erie and Toronto. You probably know already that Canada is the most culturally diverse country in the world so discrimination or prejudice isn't a concern. In B.C., Abbotsford is similar, slightly larger, with easy access to Vancouver. Good luck, you'll be welcome.

If you can speak or are willing to learn French the Montreal area of Quebec would be perfect. Many mixed race couples, good schools, lots of road cycling (some posted road cycling routes extending into New York and Vermont) and mountains, and a Portugese immigrant community to boot.

Toronto is the most cosmopolitan and multi-cultural city in the world but unfortunately, at present, there is a bit of anti-black prejudice spurred by phenomenom of Jamaican gang violence
and gun crime in parts of the city. Otherwise the rest of Canada
pretty much OK. Nova Scotia actually gets hit by hurricanes so
if you would miss them consider moving there!

Another place that you may want to consider is the interior of British Columbia (Kamloops or Kelowna areas) - they are smaller and quieter than the big cities and have access to good biking. The weather is generally decent for most of the year, too.

I think any where around Toronto is a good area to live. dont' go to scarborough that's not good for kids. Oakville is good but i think in my opinon it sucks and i would never want to live there. they'res alot of snobs there. Mississauga or Etobicoke is really nice place so check that out, and brampton has grown so much but the problem is they built alot of houses but nohting else, as you can imagine serious congestion cuz evveryone goes out of the city to work and even stores or anything u have to drive to get to cuz they just built houses period
