Fot starters you have gum disease like gingivitis but more importantly your lacking in Vitamin C.
If your body doesn't have enough daily Vitamin C your gums will bleed when brushed.
Vitamin C is a vitamin we all need daily as the body does not store it and if your a smoker you need extra as smoking depletes the body of vitamin C.
Lack of Vitamin C weakens the gums and makes them more suceptable to disease. (It also gives you premature wrinkles on the skin).
Good sources of Vitamin C are: Tablet form, Tomatos, Oranges, Lemon Juice, Green Tea (Japanese Sencha in particular is high in Vitamin C), -Green tea also protects the gums and teeth as it contains fluride, Black Currants, Parsley, Green Peppers, Cauliflower and so on.

When your gums weaken, some bacterias get between the tooth and the gums, and they multiply and live there; thus your gums will get weaker and weaker if you don't take those bacterias out of there.
Yes, mouthwash helps a lot, but you have some essential things to do:
1--Massage the upper gums with your cleaned forefinger from up to down.
2--Massage your lower gums from down to up.
3--Don't press very much so that you don't damage your weakened gums, a gentle massage gets to the point.
4--be consistent: repeat the procedure 3 times a day, for many days until the inflammation is over.
5--Use the smallest and the softest brush
Good luck.

Take 1-2 grams of vitamin C with bioflavinoids daily. Bleeding gums are often a sign of C deficiency. Coenzyme Q10 is also good for gums and health in general.

I actually just went to the dentist for this. I told him the my gums bleed whenever i brush and i was told by previous doctors just to floss and brush and it will go away. This dentist told me that it wont work and i needed a deep cleaning. it is a procedure that is done in 2 parts and it takes like a few weeks to complete. he said that you need to clean all the way down into your comes and cleaing with floss wont reach it. he also said that it is containgous! so i would go to the doc and make sure, or just ask at your annual appt.

You need to brush with a soft toothbrush, use toothpaste for sensitive teeth. Rinse with Chlorahexidine (Percription Only), and most importantly, you need to floss everyday after brushing your teeth. That is why they are mainly bleeding and once you get used to flossing more, your gums will get healthier and will stop bleeding. Hope this helps.

I have gums that tend to bleed so what I do is use a medium toothbrush and then switch to a softer one from time to time. I also take care not to brush too hard. I have also found that using a mouthwash regularly helps with this problem.

Be more consistent with brushing and flossing and your gums will get better. Bleeding is a sign of bad oral hygiene and gingivitis. but a small problem to fix.

I have this all the time. It is gum disease. You need to go to your dentist and explain the problem and he will put you on a course of anti biotics and some mouth wash that will clear it up!
And dont think gum disease only happens to old people! I used to think that but i got it and i am only 20! Its gone now though!

Bleeding gums happens to everyone. Its a sign that they are not brushed regularly.
Its always important to brush your gums as well as your teeth.
There is nothing wrong if the dentist agrees.
