Have you tried the buttons on the front of the TV to turn it on? There are also controls to control the timer/block, channels, and volume.

Have you plugged it into another electrical socket? Maybe your's just went bad and needs to be replaced.

Is the Timer light on? If so, then the TV will come on at the time that was set (might be early AM -- like 2 or 3). If not, then it isn't waiting for the timer to turn it on.

You don't say how you cleaned the remote. With a liquid (Formula 409, Fantastik, Windex, etc)? If so, you may have messed up the remote.

Have you tried new batteries in the remote? If not, maybe the old ones happened to give out just after/because you cleaned it. You'll need some new ones anyway, if you get a new universal remote (see next paragraph).

If it's the original remote, it's probably dead. If you know how to take it apart, you can clean off the keyboard contacts with ethyl alcohol. If you aren't good at that, you'll have to get a universal remote. I've seen them for under $10, and they work fine. I'm sure that it would have all the codes for a Sony TV.

Good Luck!
