How can I believe in an enlightened being when I haven't seen enlightenment myself?

Who enlightened that being to begin with? It wasn't me...and what the hell does that word mean anyway? A higher state of consciousness? Who wants to be conscious and of what? Ya see, this stupid question perplexes me because I can believe in myself all I want..I see myself in the mirror everyday. I know I'm there...here, rather. As far as God is concerned...He considers me and is in no way confused cuz He knit me together and can unravel me however He chooses. My place is to trust. Can I trust myself? Can a leopard change its spots? What control do we really have over ourselves, our perceptions, our judgements? Why would we want that control when we are so easily decieved? So yeah, I believe in God before I "believe" in myself and as far as enlightened beings go...as the source of all light...creator of all things, eternal, immortal and etc...well, I think He's more the enlightener than one having ever required that service from...who? This is the stuff that'll keep ya up at night. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

If by enlightened being, you are typing about God. Then my answer is:

Before one believed in God, one tried not to be selfish, one tried to love, one tried to be moral, one tried not to be a woman whore monger, one tried and tried and tried, one even could sometimes do the right thing, one even did more for others then for oneself sometimes, one finally realized one was killing ones self, because without Jesus Christ we can really do nothing, no matter how hard we try, we may even gain the whole world, but then one might lose their soul, self, in hell. The truth is that most do not realize that until they have lived a little, and then some never come to that realization and will end up in hell, yet there are some that learn good morals etc...etc... and not accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and still end up in hell; in conclusion Jesus Christ said it like this; Love the Lord your God with all you heart soul mind and strength and love your neighbor as yourself. You see one thinks they love them self, but until you know Jesus Christ you really know nothing, you are just bumping around in the darkness; ever doing things you are ashamed of and hate but cannot seem to stop. One really and truly needs Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior; get on the right road the leads to life eternal in heaven not hell. 1+1+1=1. The Triune God is the answer.

Before learning the teachings of the Messenger of the One True God, I didn't know what I am and what to believe in.
Now I thankfully realize that I am absolutely weak and poor; I place all my life in the belief of God and in the service of His Divine Cause.

In the growing of a human mind, the ego forms first. therefore I believed in myself first.

but for spiritualities sake, yes, I beleive in an elightened being, and He is the owner of All.

But there can only be one God, so my belief will stop when I believe in Him. I dont need to make gods out of my ego.

Belief entails trust and trust entails unwavering resolve. The illumination of such being, entails the strong probability that the being is in possession of wisdom, where "wisdom" entails knowledge and experience.

We then realize that it takes a degree of wisdom to recognize wisdom.

Actually I believed in myself for much of my life. It wasnt until God spoke to me that I finally believed in him. Now I'm sorry I spent all those years in the dark. Now I'm truly alive.
