Ok first of all, how long have you been this current guy? what circumstances did you break up with the past man? Sometimes we look back at situations with "rose-tinted" glasses and forget the reasons why we actually split up with them.
Perhaps also, the reason why you're thinking of your past man is because you're not facing the reality that this current man isn't right for you. Only you can decide what you want, but remember there is no going back on your decision whatever you decide it's for keeps, you cannot mess people around.
I suggest thinking clearly and deciding what you truly want, only you can make that decision...

you should talk to your partner about how your relationship is missing good conversation and how you need and desire that. it is NOT a ridiculous request. that is just as important as anything physical.
