Prophet Muhammad used to take approximately 4% of all loots. He also took over some lands from a Jewish tribe in return for not attacking it (Fadak). This is how he supported himself and his 11 wives.
No doubt he was a very good leader and lover at the same time.

He inherited Khadijah's wealth, but he also was a merchant. To note: Mohammad never took another wife until after Khadijah's death, and much time of mourning had occured. You sound as if you think he ''used'' Khadijah. He did not.

He was entitled to take 1/5 of all loots taken by Muslims during wars. He also took a large parcel of land (called Fadak) from a Jewish tribe in exchange for not attacking them.
Just a small note, he had 11 wives + 2 concubines (sex slaves)

Prophet David had 99 wives.
By the time Khadijah died, she was not rich anymore, after giving the money to charity. The Prophet always had little to eat. His wives were honoured to be his wives, they were satisfied with the simple life.
