I am planning to visit Thailand next summer. I was thinking of going to either Bangkok or Chiang Mai. If you have been to both the places, would you tell me which one do you recommend and why?

I've been to both, and I would recommend Chiangmai.
Why?
1. Less traffic jams and noise pollution.
2. Cooler
3. The most wild parties during major festivals like Loy Krathong or Songkran.
4. Surrounded by nature. A short distance to nearby mountains, national parks.
5. Generally, not as hectic and stressful like Bangkok. There are a few major shopping malls in CM too.

You can see some of my travel photos in my recent November trip to CM in my blog: http://jexon.blogspot.com

I have been to both. I live in Pattaya. Bangkok has 13 million people and 20 million cars and trucks all trying to go to the same place at the same time. It makes an L.A. traffic jam look like a Sunday drive but it has some good points. There is much to see and do aside from the obvious. Chaing Mai is smaller and weatherwise tends to be cooler. Although the hottest months here are April / May, summer is still quite hot. It is a bit easier to get around Chaing Mai at times and costs are a bit lower too.

Chiang Mai is like this place where you go see temples and elephants and all other kinds of old people things.

Bangkok is where there are temples and elephants too. The best part is there are many prostitutes there and bars. For approx USD 50 you can get a girl to follow you and do whatever you want with her. Be careful as many of the girls are actually boys who dress up as girls.

Bangkok is a little warmer too.

hi, you may purchase a cost ticket at maximum stations typically an afternoon or 2 in improve. attempt to e book a 2d classification sleeper. Ask for bottom bunk, a lot larger, more beneficial convenience, and think concerning the window to work out out as you get on the point of Chiang Mai, its appropriate to work out. foodstuff on board isn't the perfect and fairly severe priced, for Thailand it extremely is. prepare leaves Bangkok at 1800 arrives Chiang Mai 07:15 as long as there are not any hassles. value 880 baht. Have a large holiday.

Been to both, stay in Bangkok.

BKK is one of the most interesting cities in the world. The shopping is great, the food is fantastic, the people are the most friendly on the planet.

Word of caution, Tuk Tuks may seem to be a fun way to travel, very quick etc but if there is a prang you may be severely injured.

Use the Sky Train where ever possible.

Have fun !

Been to both, and where to go will depend on what you want to do.For shopping, Bangkok is tops. Other than that, if you want scenic places, cooler resort stay, Chiangmai will be the choice.

If you can, travel around, outside the Chiangmai city centre, for beautiful mountain resorts. Places you can really chill out and relax, at lower price than in Bangkok.

The atmosphere will be more pleasant in Chiangmai.

So if you like to relax, stay out of Bangkok.
