I had to move in with my family temporarily and my 6 month old kitten did too. She only likes me and displays aggression towards other when they try to pet her. My older brother is beginning to punish her and pin her down to torture her by rubbing her fur the wrong way, throwing her in a full bath-tub...etc. He wont listen to me when I tell him to knock it off and no one seems to care. He is offended at her behavior towards him and is acting out against her. What can I do?????

first of all, put your kitty somewhere safe, like in a closed room with food and water and a litter box when you aren't around. If I was you, I would take pictures of what he is doing if possible, because he might have a larger problem than being mean to your cat. If his future wife gets mad, what then, is he gonna torture her? This would at least show a history of your brother's behavior.
You said that this is a temporary move, so is there a friend who could keep your kitty for a while?
I think that your brother needs to get help, but just make sure to keep your kitty safe until that can be worked out.
Exactly what does he expect for the cat to do when he's been treating her this way?
If it escalates, he might do permanent harm, physically, in which case I would call the police and have him charged with cruelty to animals. Just please see if you can get a sitter for your cat, or at least get him to leave her alone.
Just make sure that she has a safe place to get to when you aren't around, or get somebody to step in.
Also, contact your local police and get the definition of animal mistreatment/ cruelty for your area, and what the punishment is. Maybe he will stop if he realizes their are consequences for his actions.
Good luck and tell your brother to grow up.

he threw her into a full bathtub!!! Oh my God! That is insane, seriously that is animal abuse and as the cat's owner you have to protect it! Try talking to him like an adult, you said he is your older brother, and you also mentioned that you had to move in with your parents for a few months, so I'm assuming you both are grown people! I don't have any idea why a grown man would be bothered by a cat not liking him, but whatever, just figure out something. Talk to him, if that doesn't work, find a new home for the cat; a place where someone will look after it and take care of it.

You need to move away from your brother. He may being doing worst things to your poor kitty when your not around. I would report him to some one he obviously has some serious mental problems. But before you leave give him a good a$$ kickn' for your cat and every other cat that gets treated like $hit because some a$$hole has nothing better to do. My lil' brother is bigger then me and he will never forget the day he was mean to my cat. I made him real sorry.

Good luck to your poor kitty!

Well I assume your parents don't step in? I am sorry but your brother is abusing that poor kitten.. The best thing to do is to find a home for it for it's own safety.. You can always get another kitten when you move back out..

There is something seriously wrong with someone who abuses animals...

While none of these actions will kill her, they certainly aren't good for your cat. She will begin to mistrust even you if this keeps up. Explain to your brother that while you appreciate him letting you stay there, your cat is very important to you and you feel disrespected by his action towards your cat. Get him a book on cats or something so he can better understand their habits and ways. If this fails, tell him you are gone and go! Good luck!

Get your own place, and take your cat with you.

And rubbing a cats fur the wrong direction is not torture, nor is rubbing their stomach.

Seriously, if you have an issue with the way the house is being run ("no one seems to care") then the mature approach is to get out of their house and get your own place, where your rules can be implimented. Until then, you forfeit the right to complain about the way someone else runs their house.

It might sound stupid but have you tried seriously talking to him? Don't get worked up over it and stay calm... it's very likely he just does it to get a rise out of you, but if you confront him seriously he might see that it really bothers you.

Either way, good luck to you and moreso the kitten.

I would ask a freind if you have somebody like that to watch your cat till you can get your own place .

I fear your brother will only get worse and maybe kill your cat .

I'd report him to the authorities. He's going to kill her soon if he isn't stopped. Get him locked up out of harm's way.

Tell him you will call the police. He is putting an animal in distress.
